Right now, it's looking kind of bad here for me. My GPA is only at a 2.9. In total, I have 34 transferable credits, not including the 1 remedial course I had to take and the 1 course I took that I received a D in. If you count those, it would make 42, but they won't count. In total from college course work, I received 3A's 7B's 2C's 1D. It actually would be 2 D's, but the 1 turned into a B after retaking it, and I know USC will still average them both. I really think that D is gonna kill me, and it was in a 6 credit course. I obtained this GPA from a 4-year institution rather than a community college. Do you think they will take that into consideration? The good news is, I should have some decent letter of recommendations, 1 coming from a politician, and The essay I'm going to write will also be outstanding. Think these can outweigh the GPA. I know the website says they have no minimum GPA and according to statistics, some students were accepted with a 2.5-2.9 GPA, but I'm guessing those students were the one's who are legacy and donated a lot of money. Anyways...to sum this up, Do you think I stand a chance at getting accepted? or even making the waiting list? and if not, where should I go from here?

Prolly not.

Yeah... I don't think you have a very good chance. Maybe try some in state universities?

Although it may be a reach, you should still apply! There was a student here on CC who got in with a 2.8. And they were not legacy/rich/etc. Granted they finished their last few semesters with a very high GPA+wrote some great essays. Nonetheless, they applied and got in. If you put your best foot forward you may beat the odds and get in.

Granted you're facing a big headwind, but if you put a lot of effort into your essay, they may request for you to send in your spring grades. At that point you better make sure you worked your butt off in those classes.

As you said, it looks bad, but it's not hopeless. If you want to get into USC, you're gonna have to hit the books. On the other hand, If you really want to transfer, you might want to consider some safety schools.

I wish you the best of luck.
