Transfer suggestions?

Hi, I'm a freshmen at UW.
I don't feel challenged here.
In high school, I had a 3.8 GPA and 33 ACT composite.
Right now, I'm earning all As and I'm working harder than ever.
I never was truly curious and passionate about learning, but now I am.
But, the atmosphere isn't very intellectual and I'm looking into transfer.
What are some reasonable schools that I can consider transferring to?
I know the Ivies are not an option with their extreme competitiveness, but what are some intellectual schools in a decent town?
Thanks.

Need to know your major.

Undecided. I really want an intellectual environment.

Many freshmen don’t feel challenged by the courses they take their first semester. Often this is because they are mostly taking required distribution courses but this really doesn’t reflect the overall academic atmosphere and doesn’t give you a realistic sense of what the next 4 years will be like at your current school.

You don’t mention what your major is and UW can mean either Washington, Wisconsin (or possibly other schools I haven’t thought of). Depending on your major and when you can begin to take upper level classes, it’s likely that the academic challenges will ramp up quite a bit. You’ve been at this school about 8 weeks, right? It’s much too early to conclude that it’s not “intellectual” enough for you.

Information on ‘intellectual’ schools is readily available in books, websites, and by using the Search function here on CC (go to the College Search & Selection forum and Search for ‘intellectual’). The College Board’s Big Future will give you transfer rates for any college that reports those stats, as well as information about the location, size, etc. of the school.

p.s. I think the whole ‘College X is intellectual’ thing is mainly for those who have ‘drunk the kool-aid’, but if it floats your boat, go for it ;).
