Anyone know why my status changed from “ready for review” to “further review required” after uploading spring grades? What other info should I send?

No new items were added to your checklist?

My application switched to “Further review required” on friday and I had to add my IB grades and a summary of activities. I just uploaded them this morning. Any idea how long before they review it again? And is it normal the status is still “Further review required” even after I submitted everything?

Yes, it’s normal. It’s been like that for me since mid-April. I’m curious as to why they JUST started reviewing your file. Are you a Canadian transfer?

Yeah, I’m a canadian transfer. I applied on the 30th of April too haha. They actually gave me a decision just now. They refused my admission because my IB classes were SL and not HL. I did those classes 5 years ago. Complete bull… I’m trying to change their minds right now. They just gave me the option to do a bachelor’s of Arts instead. Is there a big difference?

I am a Canadian transfer. I called them early during the day, asked them when could I receive an admission decision. Then, they gave me the answer with XXXX nonsense,“you can wait until July 19th.” This date is what they Mcgill indicates on its website. BA is ok, depends what is your goal after undergrad.

The thing is, I just completed my first bachelor’s degree. They’re giving me the option to be a Special Student in the Faculty of Arts, which would actually let me do all of the same classes as I planned on taking in the Faculty of Science. So I’m wondering if it’s possible to do this year as a special student, do those 2 sciences classes this year too, either at mcgill or some other university in montreal, and then transfer to the bachelor’s of science. I would finish with exactly the same thing. By the way, I want to do computer science.

If you take all the courses in Mcgill, it will be easier to transfer into Science? I believe transfer from arts to science in Mcgill will take different process if you transfering from a different university.

I don’t mean easier to transfer. The thing is, in the bachelor’s of science, all I have to do is 60 credits. Also, McGill has this rule where you must absolutely complete 60 credits at their institution to graduate. I’m wondering if I can take 30 as a special student, transfer to science, and do the last 30 there.

Also, I just saw your earlier post. I have a 3.51 and applied to science, the only problem seems to have been the prereqs. I think you’ll be fine.

@ivyology they only JUST reviewed mine last week and I’m a non-Canadian transfer… it all just seems very random haha

I am not sure for the school of CS whether has their special policy or not. In most cases, if you complete all courses in Mcgill, the courses can be easily transfer even the programs are different, since most of your courses are taking from arts and science. (eng and management will be different).

For me, there is no big preq problem i suppose. As a second year transfer, I did some third year econ courses econ 330, cal3, math 223 in my home institution. The only concern is when could they give the decision, either accept or reject, because Mcgill is not the only university i applied. The other university alreadt gave me offer, and i need to give them a response in early june.

I see. As long as you don’t have any documents missing, they should review your application pretty soon. As for me, I only applied at McGill, so I need to get in. I’m quite desperate.

They definitely reviewed my application, at least two and half weeks ago. On the website, it shows “reviewed–decision pending”. It took them a long time to make a decision, I don’t even know the reason. How is your application? You apply for Arts then?

Huh, that’s weird. Mine went from Ready for Review, to Further Review Needed (had to add documents), to Rejected (just a few hours after I uploaded the documents). The woman who was in charge of my application sent me an email saying that she could send my application to Arts if I wanted to, but that I have to send her proof that I’ve graduated. Apparently it wasn’t specified on my transcripts. So I’ll go get that at my old school tomorrow morning and ask her to send my application to arts.

I will be applying to be a special student, so I don’t know if it’ll take more or less time than you. It’s also possible that Arts have a heavier load of applications. I’ll let you know how my application progresses.

I just got accepted! woooo!! I’ll be a special student in arts, then transfer to the B.Sc. at the end of the year. As a special student, I can do any class, so I’ll just do the same as if I was a normal B.Sc. student, but take the prereqs too.

cong! I am still waiting for a decision. I hope it is coming soon, since your average is just little above mine.

Has anyone applied to McGill’s Faculty of Education as a transfer student and got accepted? I applied as a transfer student from Concordia University to the education program in McGill and it is frustrating waiting for a response. Please tell me if anyone got any response…and congratulations to those who have gotten their acceptances !! Good luck!

Got accepted after two days on the wait list… There’s hope, people! :)

ivyology, which faculty did you apply for? Are you from the US?

My status on Minerva is still “further review required” and I’m a US transfer students applying for Arts…not sure what the issue is

your profile ca87?
