Transfer to Uconn or stay at Eastern?

I'm currently a sophomore at Eastern CT State University. I'm a computer science major and I have a 3.53 GPA with 46 earned credits(going on 63). I went to Eastern because I didn't get accepted to Uconn as a freshman. I've heard about Uconn's computer science program being tougher but allowing me to learn more than what Eastern provides for Computer Science. Also, while I don't go to college primarily for the fun aspect(although still important), Eastern is pretty boring on weekends with the campus being deserted and not many events going on, and I hear a bunch of things are usually going on at Uconn. People have told me that Uconn's a different environment, more expensive, and more difficult, but from what I've seen of it, I think it has a better program for Computer Science than Eastern's. I'm also thinking of going into software for computer science, and I hear Uconn has a better program for that than Eastern, I would have to take an independent study. Anyone who's done the program at Eastern and/or Uconn that can give me some advice whether I should transfer to Uconn or stay at Eastern? I'm looking to get the most out of my education but also want to have a good college experience too.

Also, my SATs were kinda low when I took them senior year of high school. 500 in CR, 480 in Math, and 570 in Writing. Do I need to re-take them to get accepted to Uconn as a transfer?

You won’t need to submit your SAT score since you have over 24 credits.

It seems like applying may be worth doing. UConn doesn’t require a professor or dean recommendation, so applying is pretty simple. If you’re accepted but decide that you’re better staying at Eastern, at least you won’t have any regrets. I’ll add that I’m a transfer applicant as well and a current UConn student may be able to give a better answer than I would.

If you decide to apply to transfer (and if you’re only applying to UConn) you’ll want to highlight the differences between Eastern and UConn in terms of CS programs and campus life and explain why you prefer UConn in these respects.

I have to fill out the Common App though which requires SAT scores. Or do I just skip that section?

Also, I’m currently on disciplinary probation from repeated offenses of being caught with alcohol in the dorms. I know I have to specify that on my application, but do you think it will greatly hurt my chances of being accepted? These offenses happened throughout last year as a freshman. So far, this year I have had no offenses though I’m on disciplinary probation until May.

The scores aren’t required on the Common App. Even if you included them I’m not sure if they’ll receive much consideration since an official report isn’t required and much greater weight is put on college performance.
