transferring from BU to NYU

i'm a senior in high school. i was recently rejected from NYU (my first choice) but i was accepted to boston university with basically a full ride (in addition to fordham, northeastern, & CUNY baruch honors). my plan is to try out BU for a year or two and then try to transfer to NYU. (unless i end up loving BU. i like it there, and i'm pretty excited to go there in the fall, but i know eventually i would much rather be closer to home/internships in NYC.) i was wondering if anyone had any input on transferring from a school like BU to NYU, rather than a less difficult school where i'm guaranteed a 4.0. my instinct first told me that if i'm set on transferring, i should just go to an easier school, but when it comes down to it BU will be cheaper than even CUNY baruch. i'm just worried about this "grade deflation" that BU is notorious for... help!

BU is "notorious" about grade deflation only because it has standards and wants an A to mean something for someone who worked for it. You can be proud of your good GPA at BU - it wasn't given to everyone who showed up.

If you were guaranteed a 4.0 at NYU they would have accepted you from the beginning. College isn't easy, why do transfer students assume they will be getting a 4.0 when the average GPA at my non-deflated Top 25 LAC is below a 3.4.

Yes- save your questions. Go to BU or wherever you could see yourself and do your best. Do not assume you will get a 4.0. College is very difficult.
