How difficult is it to transfer from a CSU to another CSU or UC? Would it be better to go to a community college in the proposed CSU area and transferring that way? Or would it be better to just stay in the current CSU. Thanks. (:

From everything I have heard, the CSUs in particular take CCC students over CSU students, and that this applies to kids who start out at CSUs and then go to a CCC before transferring again back into a CSU.

I think this applies as well to the UCs. In short, it seems that a California student should feel pretty comfortable using the CCC system to track into the CSU/UC system.

Note that for getting into CSUs from CCC that your best shot is if your CCC units are from a local-service area.

So if you want to get into (for example) SJSU you’d want to go to a CCC in Santa Clara County. Otherwise you generally need a high gpa to get into the competitive CSUs if you are considered a non-local California transfer student a particular CSU. Ie: likely a 3.3+ depending on major for SJSU, and I’ve heard 3.7+ for Fullerton.

Here’s a chart that lists the services areas for the CSUs
