Transferring from Georgetown University w/ a 4.0

I am a freshman at Georgetown considering applying to transfer elsewhere. I don't all my final grades from this semester, but I am nearly certain that I will end up with a 4.0. All else equal, how competitive will a transfer applicant with a 4.0 from Georgetown be in terms of admissions to places like Yale, Stanford, Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown, UPenn, or Pomona?

Yale and Stanford are crapshoots, but I think you have a great shot at the other schools. A 4.0 from a school like Georgetown is impressive, although keep in mind that it's much easier to hold a 4.0 for one semester than the full 8 semesters.

i am applying to georgetown, and haven't had the chance to hear a first hand account of the school. I am just curious, is there any specific reason that you want to transfer out of Georgetown or do you simply want to try out a different school?

More important than your GPA may be the reason for wanting to transfer out of Georgetown & the reason for wanting to transfer to Stanford, Yale, Penn, Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth or Pomona. For example, if you want to leave Georgetown because you are embarrassed by the overly large donations to the university that your family has made in your name and you want a fresh start with plans to make anonymous overly large contributions to your new university, then you will have made a compelling and convincing argument in support of your desire to transfer. Or you could just offer more mundane reasons focusing on availability of courses & majors.

coldwind, i can tell you had fun creating that scenario.

and if you have any questions about georgetown, send me a PM

Most of those have acceptance rates of 10 percent or less for transfers even Pomona College, is there a specific reason why those schools?
Why are you leaving Georgetown? Because if it's something about those schools there may be other schools not obviously ranked as high who offer a better setting for you/environment or majors.

I'm also at Georgetown. Meh. Considering leaving.

same 10 char

i have polish heritage and im catholic, i neeeed to go to georgetown

I'm Polish too! Where are you at now Polska? I'm trying to transfer from Penn State University Park to Penn but G-town is a possibility as well.

ahh thats cool, im at unc, i dont know polish but id like to learn it
