Transferring in Florida...will I get in?

I currently attend FSCJ and at the end of the summer (next) semester, I will have 56 credits out of my 60 to get an AA. I'm expecting my GPA will be about 3.4, possibly 3.5 if I pull out an extra A somewhere.

My question(s) is/are:

1) Is a 3.4 good enough? UF I'm sure might be a bit of of my league, but I have yet to find any real data about transfer student averages here in Florida. I'm also really not completely sure what the articulation agreements entail. I can't seem to find any specific information.

2) Should I apply with 56 credits, or wait until I have 60? I'd like to get into a new school for spring (deadline is in October/November I think), but if my chances are significantly better with 60 credits, I'll wait.

3) Can anyone link me to somewhere that has the relevant requirements/averages? I'm looking at UF, FAU, and FIU right now.

Thanks in advance.

I applied to UF myself and I am a FL resident. I am even doubting my acceptance, because I don’t have a 4.0. Plus they prefer in state residents. But, I do think you have a good chance at FAU and FIU. FAU usually accepts people with a 3.0 or higher same with FIU.

Thanks for the response, and good luck to you! I hope you get in. I love Gainesville. :)

You can’t even apply to UF until you have 60 credits. They dont accept lower level transfers. You also need to meet the pre-reqs specific to your major. All the info can be found on each school’s website. I think you have a reasonable chance at the other 2.

As far as I know, my major (linguistics) has no pre-reqs. Thy have “recommended” courses, like intro to linguistics, but they aren’t offered at my community college.

The only info I’ve been able to find on the schools’ websites is that if you get an AA in Florida you are guaranteed admission to at least one public university. I haven’t been able to find any specific information. :/
