Transferring into UT Computer Science?

Alright, so I know how UT’s CS program is incredibly hard to internally transfer and it is notorious for it. But, some people are still able to do it each year (although few). What I am wondering is how did they do it? What all would I need to do to be able to have a good chance of internally transferring to the CS program if I am a undergrad studies undeclared at the moment?

Should I keep a 4.0? Try to talk with the CS teachers maybe? Do outside CS related projects (like make an app or something)?

Please don’t post about how hard it is to transfer, I already know that it is insanely difficult, just what would you need to do to have the best chance?

Get a 4.0 in the prereqs that you are allowed to take especially the calc classes. Look to see what other items are needed for the transfer. I know an essay is needed, put alot of thought and effort into it. I do not believe CS teachers are involved in the decision but I could be wrong. I know that are not for initial admissions. If you need references start thinking about who would ask. Showing initiative by learning new languages, developing an app is always a good thing. From the kids who have written that they have been successful in transferring, they all credit GPA and essay. Good luck.
