hey everyone!

i am planning to apply to UC Berkeley as well as UCLA for fall 2010. i understand that berkeley doesn't admit by major but when i take a look at the admissions statistics (http://students.berkeley.edu/files/Admissions/12626_5.Info_TransAdm.pdf) it seems to be much easier to apply to the Peace and Conflict Studies Major (PACS) than to the Political Science major (the devision of PACS admits ~40% of students and the devision of political science ~18%). does it make sense for me to apply to peace and conflict studies and then switch to poltical science as soon as i am at UC Berkeley, just that i get in easier?

also, what are my general chances of being admitted? here are my statistics:

high school: i went to high school in germany even though i am now considered as a california resident at my city college (i have lived here for over a year and i have dual citizenship through my dad).

city college: i am attending my second year at santa barbara city college

IGETC: all finished after this fall semester

pre-req: all pre-requisites done by spring before i transfer, both in PACS as well as in political science.

GPA: ~3.8

extracurriculars: honors program, phi theta kappa (honors society), co-founder and vice-president of travel and culture club, senator in our student senate, working part time as a tutor for approximately 5 hours a week. i have previous full-time work experience before i moved to the states (worked for 1 year in a psychotherapeutic clinic).

so what do you think my chances are to transfer to berkeley as a peace and conflict studies major or to UCLA as a political science major? (i have a priority admission agreement with UCLA). does it make sense to apply to PACS?

thanks a lot!
