Transferring to UT-Austin Spring 2014

Chances at either transferring into UT COLA for Economics or Undergraduate General Studies and then hopefully transfer into the Engineering School.
Currently:

Attended: SMU for 2 full years

All credits from SMU except for one 3hr AP credit
70 hours after Summer I term is completed
3.37-3.43 GPA Anticipated after Summer I

Currently a double major (Economics and Mechanical Engineering)

I have completed most of the general requirements for both majors, including up to Calc III, Physics I and II, Chem, CSE, Engineering Statistics, Statics, Intro to ME, ME lab, all of my basics. My overall GPA is a bit low due to some of my engineering classes and a rough first semester, but my ECON only GPA so far is a 4.0 (Intro to Micro/Macro, Intermediate Micro/Macro, Money and Banking). Not sure if this would help my chances at getting into COLA but I thought I might as well mention it.

I have a pretty extensive list of extracurriculars from both HS and at SMU.

I could probably get some pretty reputable recommendations, such as from my professor who was the Vice-President of the Dallas Federal Reserve.

I also feel like I could write a pretty decent essay as I would have a lot of time on my hands later this summer.

I know my overall GPA is lower than I’d like, but I was wondering if I had a shot.

Thank you all and best of luck!

haha this wasn’t the official thread.

I wouldn’t mind making it though. Isn’t the deadline for spring 2014 in October?

October 1 is the deadline for Spring 2014 admissions.

I know o.o

I’ll make the thread around September

Hi! I applied for transfer into UT for the fall but was denied =( After reading a lot of the posts from the fall 2013 thread i was confused as to why i wasn’t admitted… I was wondering if anyone knew if the prenursing major has a min. GPA requirement? I applied with a 3.54 GPA and they calculated it as 3.46 =( My GPA currently is a 3.57 after spring grades and may go up to a 3.6 if I can pull off a A for this microbiology summer class… Please help!!
Thanks!!

Once again, this is not the official spring 2014 thread. However, this seems to be turning into it LOL

My goodness I don’t think I’ve ever heard so much whining & melodrama over attending community college. It’s what YOU make out of it. I currently have a friend who is transferring from Lonestar CC in Houston to Texas A & M for Fall 2013. I myself will be applying for transfer for Fall 2014 to UT & TAMU. Having previously attended a UT branch I can honestly say I’m much happier at my currect CC. I have made several friends, gotten to know the professors, I am taking Honors Classes, joined Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Kappa Delta, made the Presidents Honor Roll, & made it into the Who’s Who. My current GPA is 3.92. I think I have a solid chance at making it into UT or TAMU. I’m an auto-admit for Texas Tech & Texas State, and several of the UT branches. Best part yet, it was down the street from my house & I saved a lot of $$. I even had $$ left over after paying for classes & books. You guys seriously need stop being bratty & make the most of what you have.

I don’t understand why you are being an ass about it^

I gave 3 honest reasons why I didn’t want to do CC and none of them portray me as a whiner.

I think you missed the point of my post totally. Never mind. Go where you feel best.

Does UT Austin accept transfer applicants that have a “W” for withdrawal from a class, on their transcript?

Yes, i had 3 of them - all from the same semester, and the last semester before applying to transfer. Ws don’t disqualify you.

Does CNS accept transfers that haven’t taken Calculus? What if I took Statistics instead??
