Transferring: What shot do I have?

I'm currently a sophomore at NYU Gallatin with a 3.925 GPA and a member of the Dean's honor roll.

In my year and a half at NYU I've been wholly unsatisfied with the education I've received thus far, and am seeking something more challenging. So, I've decided to transfer schools.

I'm writing here because I'm wondering what type of schools I should be aiming for. I have a decent amount of EC's, mediocre SAT scores (1930), and a mediocre HS GPA (3.6). I really want to get the most of my education and have been told by NYU admins that I should apply to schools like Wesleyan, Brown, Williams, UChicago, even Yale.

Does anyone have experience with transferring that can tell me what type of schools I should shoot for? I'm applying as a creative writing student with an interest in Literature and Film and will have a couple of glowing letters of recs from NYU professors who are also published authors.

Let me know if you have any advice or tips.

Thanks so much.

Perhaps you should repost to the Transfer section of the forum. I’m sure you would get more responses. Welcome to College Confidential!
