Throughout high school I dealt with undiagnosed Dysthymia and didn't get the help I needed until midway through my senior year (this past year); because of this, my 3.1 high school GPA doesn't really reflect my academic abilities (I've been able to maintain above a 4.0 GPA for the past 2 quarters). I'll be attending SUNY Geneseo in the fall and although it seems like a nice school, it doesn't seem to have quite what I'm looking for (ie. musicology, city surroundings, etc.)

I was wondering if it might be possible to transfer to Vanderbilt University after a year despite my poor transcript assuming I'm able to maintain a high college GPA. I recently took the ACT again and scored a 33 (3 points higher than my previous score) so I don't think my test scores will be an issue. I also build guitars at a professional level, have won quite a few awards for playing the euphonium, and play the trombone in the Jazz band at my school.

Would that plus a high GPA at Geneseo, good recommendations, convincing essay (I'm pretty sure the essay was a big factor in my being accepted to SUNY Binghamton and Geneseo) and college EC's be enough to potentially be offered admission to a school like Vandy?
