Hey guys...
I am just wondering, did you apply to transfer after your freshman year? I am already thinking of a spring transfer because I am unhappy with my acceptances. Just wondering if you are transferring after 1 or 2 years.
Thanks, and good luck!

i'm transferring after 1 year.

lurkin'girl: I don't think transferring after a semester is recommended (or their way of saying impossible) as noted in the application.

Thanks, CNCL.

I have been trying to find schools that would accept spring transfers. Cornell is supposed to, but maybe after more than one semester....

Thanks for the info, and I will look into it (and grin and bear it for a year at a UC:) ) .

i'm also transfering after one year...

but, i'll have my associates degree in August. I was able to take 32 credits my first semester in college (and earned a 3.6 gpa). By August, i'll have around 75 credits, which is more than enough for my degree.

gomestar, isn't 3.6 GPA too low for transfers? What were your stats?

i asked cals. they said the mid-april to early may.

are they knocking down the transfer center?

im in sperry now. they're knocking it down this summer. transfer center and sperry are associated since transfer center ppl do their laundry at sperry so prolly they're knocking it down too.

kittykatt.. are you already at cornell and just transferring within the university?

kittykatt, so that simply limits our selection?

From what I hear, most of the upperclassmen are already in the process of selecting housing. That really leaves nothing for us transfers.. do you know if they have anything new opening this fall?

I was down to Transfer Center, Cascadilla, and Sheldon..

cool0215 - nope ... technically, they want around a 3.3 for you to be considered for admission. When i was at my interview (i interviewed with the dirrector of admissions at ILR) i was in the middle of a question that asked something about "what stands out in a candidate" ... but, before i could ask, she cut me off saying something along the lines of "eh, dont worry about the others, you have the GPA, you have the difficult classes, you have the recs, the work, the EC's, and i think you're the only transfer student who knows as much about ILR as i do!"

so, i'll keep my fingers crossed.

My stats are pretty much this:
College: onondaga community college (and two classes at Syracuse University)
1st semester gpa: 3.622 while taking 9 classes (that sucked)
2nd semester: so far, gpa is 3.9 (will stay around there) takin 7 classes.
Am taking 5 more classes over the summer to earn my associates.
HIgh school: top 15% of very competitive public school. GPA around a 3.6 (junior and senior year grades were around a 3.8).
SATs, 1210, so what.
3 AP's in HS.
Have worked at Target for 3 years.
Internship with a law office.
Mock trial
HS senior senate
Volunteer stuff, etc.
Other stuff is also there, but it's just the generic activities, hobbies, etc.

I havn't done a personal internship with the president (like some people on this board seem to have), but i've worked pretty damn hard to get to where i am, and i hope cornell works out. If not, so be it. I'll go to Binghamton, and try for Cornell for a masters.

3.3...? Even for CAS or CALS an an international student? That might be a different case?

well, that's what they said "to be really considered" ... and remember, this is what the ILR school told me, i'm not sure what it is for CAS. I do know that the college of arts and sciences is much more competitive for transfers, so they're admits probably have a higher gpa. I think CALS is more like ILR when it comes to admissions. I'm not sure what the case is for international students, i live in Syracuse, NY.

A 3.3 is a B+ average, and most colleges i've researched want "at least a B average."

im at cornell already. im gonna transfer into aem next year. it's my bf who's transferring and waiting now.

sheldon and cascadilla is good. the housing lottery is over already. everyone picked their dorms like a month ago.

kittykatt, the easiest way for you to find out what's going on with your bf's situation or probably anything else in general is go ask them in person... you are allowed to do that, right?

yea...i'll go to roberts tomorrow.

cals emailed me back and said that they'll be sending decisions starting next week and through May. Their final deadline is june 1, however, they said that they try to have them all done well before that.

Wait, so there....is no transfer center anymore? Because that's where I wanted to live, and it's still all in the "Case for Cornell" package...what's the deal?

Transfer Center is still going to be there next year. I just checked with housing.
