Ojin, I also applied to the business school and was accepted. I think I was waitlisted at Trinity because I asked for aid, which I undoubtedly need....

So everyone just recieved their Financial Aid Award Letter right? Did anyone accept loans? I'm not sure about getting one...

We will definitely be accepting the loans. Couldn't do it otherwise, in our case.

Has anyone heard of University of Richmond? Overall, is it better than TU?

Fordham=Northeastern (NYC or Boston--both great cities) Both are better than Univ. of Richmond and Trinity. Richmond and Hartford are terrible cities. Boston and New York City are fabulous. Univ. of Richmond and Trinity are not worth the money. Their Campus social life revolves around fraternities while Fordham and Northeastern offers more options for weekend fun. But, that's just my opinion.

nysmile, you will be surpised if you look at the academic profile of either Trinity or Richmond.

My college counselor and my parents want me to go a small liberal arts school for undergrad and then a big comprehensive university for grad.

ojin, my mistake about Trinity. I confused it with Trinity College which is in Connecticut. Trinity University sounds cool--in a nice small city.

nysmile

It's bad enough that you bash places w/o knowing, but then to say TU sounds cool, in a small city? San Antonio has 1.5 million residents and is the 7th largest city in the U.S. The campus is beautiful, the students academically involved, very welcoming to all, great diversity, wonderful climate. It is anywhere from $10,000 - $15,000 less expensive than those NE schools and can hold a candle to most any of them. I think you owe this board an apology.

gloworm

Get over it. Excuse me for not being perfect like you. Just in case you didn't notice, I did apologize to ojin for commenting on Trinity College initially rather than Trinity University. I have been to U or R, Fordham, and Northeastern so don't say that I'm not familiar with the colleges. I corrected my response and gave Trinity University a compliment. Although I haven't been to Trinity University, what I've read about it sounds like it's a great college in a wonderful city (as compared to crappy Richmond). Lighten up. I didn't say anything bad about your school. It sounds like a great choice.

nysmile, that's alright. Everone makes mistakes.

Also, compared to NYC and Boston (other cities where ojin has been researching colleges), SA is a small city.

Don't know how to post the link, but here is some info from 2006, latest available. I was a little off on the size of SA.

pop. SA 1,292,116 Boston 562,393

crime rates per 100,000 murder SA 9.2 Boston 13.3
forcible rape SA 39.78 Boston 48.9
robbery SA 179.6 Boston 479.7

OK, well I won't be going to TU...I just got accepted to Univ of Notre Dame. I wanted to let people know though that I still think of TU as a fabulous school. I would have gone there as a second choice. I did a lot of research on Trinity before I found out about ND. Basically, TU really helps you, makes you feel comfortable and like a real individual. The curriculum is tough and solid and I recommend enrolling there in any case.

atsen, I totally agree with you. I love TU too.
But, my college counselor strongly recommends me U of Richmond.

ojin what are your CC's motives? Why does he/she think Richmond is a better choice? Please remember you will be the one living and attending classes at whatever U you choose so make sure the choice is yours. Good Luck!

We've sent in our deposit and it's a definite....but the Finances leave a bit of a lump in my throat! Son was just under requirements for merit aid. They gave us some grant $ (roughly half the COA) and the rest is in low-interest,
subsidized loans and work-study.

We have aplan that we'll split the final bill on the loans, so in that regard we won't be brutally saddled with payments, and he'll have to carry some of his own. He didn't want to go anywhere else (and one well-ranked private in the northwest would have been virtually free with all the scholly awards -- but he just didn't get a good feeling about that school).

What I'm wondering now is -- can a kid who didn't get merit as an incoming first year try for merit for his soph year, jr year, sr yr, based on his performance at the school?

cbcheck, if you don't mind me asking, what is that school in the northwest? i'm looking at university of puget sound up there, and trinity and ups have some similarities so i wonder if it's the same school

anyway, i just sent in a scholarship appeal for trinity. if you email his assigned admissions counselor, he or she will give you info about appeals. i got scholarships from all of my other schools but trinity is at the top of my list so i figured it was worth a try. without a scholarship the financial aspect of trinity is scary to my parents and i as well. i too wonder what merit scholarships are like for returning students.

hello everyone,

I am also accepted at Trinity and have decided to enroll. I have enjoyed reading the discussions here and it is giving me a picture of the university. Being an international, I have not got a chance for a campus visit.
Hope to learn more from you guys.

My daugther made her decision and will be attending Trinity in the Fall. We are very happy! Maybe we will meet some of you at the Fall Move in Date!

I was recently accepted at Trinity University and will enroll. See you there in the fall.
