Trying to get into McGill... again!

So here is my case: I’m a mature student of 38 and already have a degree from an university abroad. My GPA there was 3.67. I also got a Certificate (30 credits) from the University of Montreal last year, where I got a GPA of 3.97. I had applied to McGill before getting that Certificate and got admitted to the Faculty of Arts, but at the same time I was diagnosed with chronic depression, social phobia and generalized anxiety disorder. Long story short, I freaked out dropped out of McGill after only one week. Fortunately I was able to get treatment and feel I can go the academic lane over again.

The thing is, I’m not sure how McGill will consider (or re-consider) my application this time. Back then they said I’d have to apply again the same way (which I did last weekend) but I’m worried that the fact that I got accepted then left may have an impact on their decision.

Any ideas about this would be really appreciated!

Any thoughts?

You should reach out directly to admissions. Best of luck!

I can’t see that any of us here on a message board would have a better informed opinion than a McGill representative.

Just so that anyone who’s on the same boat knows, it seems they don’t really care much about you abandoning university the first time. I just got admitted

That’s great news - best of luck!

I think that you should talk to admissions at McGill. We found them very helpful when we were looking at McGill a few years ago.

My guess is that you will be fine. However, admissions staff at McGill would know better than me.

You were right. My “problem” has been solved. I’ve been admitted
