Tuition & Housing payments

I'm an incoming freshman at UNC. However, I just returned from a 1 month vacation, so I'm a bit out of touch with college stuff.

First, can someone please explain the process for paying tuition and housing? Exactly when and how am I supposed to pay?

Also, I received an "institutional grant" and a "tuition grant"; what is the process for obtaining these grants? Will they automatically be added to my student account?

Thanks.

You should have received a bill about a month ago, unless you’re going to the August CTOPS. I think the bill is due pretty soon. If your financial aid pays for your tuition and housing, you can defer payment, and the grants will be automatically added to your student account, probably on the first day of classes. If you have leftover grants after they are applied to tuition, housing, meal plan, etc, you will get a refund check that you need to pick up from SASB. You can also opt to have them do a direct deposit to your bank account.

I paid everything less the two grants. Once the grants kick in, the balance should be $0. (I mailed a check.)

Thanks saejinbilly. I will be going to the August CTOPS. What is the process for me? Will I receive the bill at orientation?

Looks like you won’t get the bill until well after school starts.
