Well done, Mendez.

My D applied 11/15, rec’d ltr 12/3. 25,000/ honors program. We never checked online and thought the letter was another college solicitation.

We didn’t think she’d be admitted because we thought her stats are on the lower end (SAT 2000/ ACT 28/ WGPA 4.3/ 2nd in class/ very active in all aspects of performing arts)

We are grateful. This is my first experience with a child entering college and Tulane was D’s first admit. I had no idea until I read hear that college entrance was such a nail biter:)

i got in as a Presidential Scholar. i should find out about my status with my dream school next Thursday.

Congrats myboby. I am guessing Penn is your dream school?

It took about 10 days to go from acceptance to the letter. Have the 27K scholarship.

Good stuff, davidei.

Talked to my admin counselor a lot.
Did the why Tulane essay.
Admin counselor was kasey Bruns.

Flyboy, that’s so interesting. My admissions counselor is Kasey Bruns aswell. (Norcal represent!)

I’ve still yet to hear, but this gives me a little hope that a decision is right around the corner.

Congratulations!

Of the students here who have been accepted, has anyone joined the FB page? I’ve suggested that my son do that (he’s not a big FB guy) just to see if he knows anyone either from school or camp who is going.

As with most things, he said “Ok” and then proceeded to ignore me. :)

Mavitale, our kids sound so much alike! My dd did join but wouldn’t let me look. Your son isn’t missing anything yet from what she said. I think as time goes on, more people will join.

I don’t think the Facebook forum gets very interesting until a lot more students actually declare, deposits are made, etc. It gets a lot more real then. Still, I can imagine it could also get more active as they have to make a decision on Tulane or another school and want to compare notes.

I don’t spend any time on Facebook, to speak of. Seems to me it is more for the kids to interact in their space, while this is for people looking for straight information. I do know Facebook has been a useful tool for finding roommates as summer kicks off and that becomes more of a reality. That is how my D found hers freshman year I think. It might have been Roommate Click, but I am pretty sure it was the Tulane Facebook site.

My d joined. I can’t see the chatter, only the identity of the joiners. D has recognized quite a few people from various summer activities, friends of friends, etc. Some of the chatter, I am told, revolves around the other schools they are waiting to hear from and the amount of merit money they have received (not cool!). D said that for the most part, they seem like a very nice bunch.

fallen…how on earth would you have time to go on facebook when you live here on the cc boards??? seriously, do you sleep? but seriously, thank you so much for all of your support and knowledge. you have been so helpful to all of us!

Well, I do sleep some. And you are right, I wouldn’t really have time for Facebook even if I had an inclination for it.

It has been a pleasure being of some small amount of assistance. So glad to see so many successes so far, and still very hopeful for those last few.

Got the letter today for my daughter. She had found out online a week ago. Unfortunately, Tulane is highly unlikely as they offered no merit money in the letter. I assume there’s no “negotiating” for merit money. Our chances at need based money are not good and we cannot afford Tulane without significant help.

What were her stats?

29 ACT
SAT (710 Math, 580 R, 620 W)
3.5 unweighted GPA, pretty much all honors (4 APs)
Good EC’s, great Why Tulane essay

Not to be a downer, Popofsenior, but it would be unlikely with her stats they would budge on merit money. You might be surprised at what level need-based aid starts, but I think there are on-line calculators that predict your EFC (Expected Financial Contribution) pretty well. You might want to at least take a look at those. Good luck!

I joined the facebook group. It’s a great way to just get to know people who might attend Tulane next year.
