@emptyingthenest5 - I was accepted EA.
EDII and Gibson portal was just updated to show missing FA documents.
All I have on my Gibson portal now is just a welcome page. My financial aid tab is gone?
I checked Gibson and saw in the overview section under the financial aid tab that it says i’ve been offered $5000 for the 2019 fall semester and $5000 for the 2020 spring semester. There was a blurb on the page congratulating me on my tulane merit award. I think it’s a good sign that i’ve been admitted!
Just checked my gibson portal and saw I was offered money for both terms as well but nothing directly updated on my admission status, is this a good sign?
Gibson updated now to show financial aid offer (all loans/work study). No merit - hopefully that’s still coming fingercrossed!
is it true that they update everyone’s gibson portal with (potential) financial aid?
I was accepted EA and my Gibson portal still hasn’t updated with financial aid offers.
Mines too!!! Anxious!!! @successful92
Hello, This could be the completely wrong thread to comment this on but I was deferred from Tulane as an EA applicant. 4.0 GPA, 32 ACT, ton of extracurriculars and leadership roles, summer job, good recs. Is it possible that my application to the Paul Tulane award, if the admissions counselors like it, can cause my deferred status to change into an acceptance or is this unheard of? Thanks!
Has anyone else’s Gibson portal changed/updated at all with possible financial aid? Just curious to see if they do it for everyone or not/trying to see if it means anything? The wait to Monday afternoon is killing me!
My Gibson portal only shows the merit award and no financial aid currently.
That’s weird, my Gibson portal only shows financial aid and no merit
yes usually 330 CST 430 EST
are those the times they release all decisions and information/did the AO say that or is that just based off of this year’s EA?
@pacnwfromne, Congrats to your child! My D is current first year, Honors, Disting scholar awardee with similar stats to your child. She LOVES the school, the friends she’s made, her dorm (Wall) and has soared there so far. As a first year, she’s incoming treasurer of the campus Rotary club, and decided to have us shipped her cleats so she can do club soccer. Wow – so pleased she is engaging, studying hard, having fun AND maintaining her GPA to qualify for honors next year. Quality of her peers is amazing – really bright, cool kids (the one’s I’ve met on parents’ weekend).
If other parents reading this can afford it, it’s worthwhile to attend Honors weekend. My husband and daughter attended as many sessions as possible. My D sat in on a chem class, too. They stayed downtown and took the streetcar (stop was right outside their hotel). You can’t beat the $1.25 cost! The class registration and advisor mtg were KEY – my D laid out her entire four year pre-med sched so she knows the requisite classes she has to take each semester. The advisor gave her some inside tips about which semester to do study abroad. Some classes are only offered every other year, so the advisor briefs your child on that, too. As it turned out, my D’s advisor is now the same person she met with on Honors weekend. She continues to provide solid advice when my D asks for it. Also, my D signed up for a mentor thru the Newcomb women’s program and that person has turned out to be a very important support/info provider for her. It would not surprise me if my D offers to be a mentor next year.
The biggest CON… the food. School knows it’s a weakness and seems to be waiting for the stellar new Commons to open this summer. But, c’mon, man. It’s NOLA for goodness sakes – bring in more food trucks with the fabulous food the city is famous for. D changed her food plan 2nd semester so that she’d have more wave bucks to use at the student center – she never eats breakfast anyways. (wish she would, but…) She also eats at Loyola next door (reciprocal dining hall) and can’t believe the difference. 'Nuff said.
I don’t know if you have any other questions, but feel free to post and i’ll check in a few days. I’m happy to answer.
should i just assume i didnt get in ed2? I dont have any update on my application like others are explaining and decisions are coming out today
I would just wait until the actual decisions come out today before making any assumptions. It’s not like people were supposed to know their decisions before they actually officially come out anyways. Gibson just probably glitched for some peopl.
@proudmomma2016 Thank you for all that info! We just paid the deposit for my D to attend and she will be in the Honors Program as well. She’s super excited and will be going to the first Honors Weekend in March. She’s even rooting for the Saints now even though she’s never shown an interest in football!
