I got the email too. Complete 10/13, 4.4 and 35
I can’t imagine the university sending this out as a notification of deferment without explicitly stating so. Any university which partakes in ED has a vested interest in having as many students as possible taking that option since it’s guaranteed money. Also, ED is the biggest form of demonstrated interest which Tulane weighs heavily, and the email is simply reminding us that it’s still an option.
I got that email too

Has anyone who applied either EA or ED NOT received the ED II email from Tulane? Everyone who has responded so far to this topic have said that they RECEIVED the same email. But wondering if all outstanding applicants received the ED II email.
@BVI I have not
I applied ED and everything was marked complete 11/1
With the EDII email, is it possible that Tulane is telling us that we need to express more interest if we want to be admitted?
I visited campus, but it was a while ago. I was always concerned that Tulane would not have a record of my visit because I used an different email address and lived in a different place than I do today. I think they can match by birthdate, but who knows. I did mention my visit in my Why Tulane essay.
I would really hate to get rejected for lack of interest because I was thisclose to applying EDI.
I have not received the email. I’m an early decision applicant. I submitted my application 10/18 and it was marked complete 10/24
@NYCpls if you applied ED I would assume that they would not send you an EDII email.
I feel like a better question would be if everyone who applied EA has gotten the EDII email because it wouldn’t make much sense for them to send that email to students who’ve applied ED already!
@BVI @2017BBGH @takeroftests @randomman007 ! - the EDII email was sent to all students who applied early. The majority of early applicants still haven’t been reviewed, so this doesn’t mean you are deferred. This email/EDII provides an option for students who did not previously apply ED but now realize that they would like to apply ED.
I hope this clears up some confusion. If not, I am happy to explain more! ONCE AGAIN: receiving the EDII email does not mean you were deferred!
Thanks NYCpls. My original question should have been more specific. Let me try again. Wondering if anyone who applied EA (not ED I) and has not received a decision so far NOT received the ED II email? Or did everyone who applied EA and not yet been accepted (or deferred) receive the ED II email? Did the ED II email come from your state admissions rep?
@TulaneBarry thank you! so it is very well possible that our applications have not been reviewed yet?
Just out of curiosity, if an applicant gets deferred for ED I, can the applicant apply ED II or are they only considered under RD?
@BVI - People received the EDII email if they have an incomplete ED application or applied EA and have yet to be given an admission decision. Does this clear things up?
@2017BBGH, that is correct. Remember, the Early Action notification deadline is December 20, which means there are plenty of applications still to be read and decisions still to be released.
@TulaneBarry, that totally clears things up for me. Thanks!
It’s good to have the EDII option.
@TulaneBarry - Yes, thank you.
Thank you for clarifying this @TulaneBarry and everyone else who responded to my question. I’m so glad the email doesn’t indicate a deferral.
