Tulane EA and ED Admission Decisions - Class of 2021

I have a 4.2 gpa 1340 new sat score and applied early action to Tulane in beginning of October still haven’t heard back yet… don’t know what to do or think of this…

If we don’t hear tonight is the agreement still binding for ED applicants

I know the Spring admit seems upsetting but since it isn’t binding look at it as a positive option. You can decide and weigh your options. My oldest S did a spring admit program at Berkeley and it worked out great. It will depend on what the options are during the Fall. Space does open for people who may study abroad or intern. This may not be a perfect choice but I think better then a possible rejection. You will graduate from Tulane and with such a social school probably have no problem meeting people and finding your peeps. Again it depends on your other options.

Are we sure we are hearing back tonight for ED?

Wow Tulane.
Not a good vibe from following this.
Really unprofessional.

@frazzledforever, @Eternallyhopeful, @800m In My Blood :

I’m thinking the same thing.

@JDBCOLLEGEFREEK yes you should have heard back ED tonight

If not look in the upper right hand corner of your portal and there may be a drop down menu that says spring 2018. If so click that and it will say stays update

But no one else heard back? do you mean i should hear back tonight? @Testing05

Does being a spring admit mean that you get less financial aid money? I’m honestly really counting on the Tulane No Loan Award and will definitely not be able to attend if I don’t qualify for that.

Wait is this whole admissions screw up going to affect EA applicants as well? Im so confused… it really seems as if this whole admissions process is SUPER unorganized.

@JDBCOLLEGEFREEK all ED decisions were released tonight. If your student is ED and don’t have a decision tell them to email their counselor.

Did any ED get a regular acceptance?
Any merit aid?
Were all remaining ED’s offered spring admission?
This is all very confusing.

I think that it’s for the numbers. If they let in all those ED applicants for fall then their acceptance rate would be higher, but Spring admissions are not factored in.

Sad.

Has anybody ED received a deferral or a rejection? Wondering if the spring admission is better or worse than getting deferred.

Spring admission is a transparent way of maximizing revenue. Every class has some attrition, and its a fairly predictable number, so spring admissions allow the school to keep operating at 100% capacity by replacing the students who don’t survive their first semester. It’s probably better than overfilling the class at the start (which explains the practice at some schools of squeezing three people into rooms built for two), but either approach puts the college’s need for cash ahead of the best interests of the students. (These are businesses, after all, so I guess it shouldn’t be all that surprising.)

Has anyone gotten an ED fall acceptance? Yesterday was the day so thought there would be a lot of posts.

I wonder if there is a way to know how many EDs were accepted for the fall and the spring. Since this is the first year, I’m curious to know how Tulane took advantage or didn’t of this new option. ED seems like a win/win to me but it doesn’t sound like the University accepted many EDs. My daughter was accepted ED but way back in early November.

EA , still nothing
