Tulane EA and ED Admission Decisions - Class of 2021

It seems to me is that all that has happened is that Tulane has lost control of its own narrative opening itself up to a lot of criticism. Part of that is due to the loss of Fallenchemist. Brown had a similar glitch this year where people received false information through the portal but they handled it quickly and quietly - calling each kid personally to correct the error. I don’t see posts by irate parents on their thread.

Not sure about the other EDs accepted for spring but my Gibson portal still says decision pending.

I was accepted EA with the Presidential scholarship. I was super nervous because many of my classmates had heard weeks earlier and I sent in my application at the same time.

@luckyshamrock when were you accepted?

@DuelingGloves I think Tuesday. I hadn’t received an email or update but a friend told me to check the portal and I found the decision. I am still waiting on Georgetown. Probably will be deferred. I am confused reading recent posts here. What happened?

@luckyshamrock A dysfunctional nightmare happened that’s what

I wonder what happened to Loopy. He was so vocal…then nothing.

Probably moved on to more viable options.

@00seeker I am one of the people who got the letter

Lol salty

But I would guess that since there was no “good news” posted last night that very few people got admitted or even deferred. ED is for students that love the school with their whole hearts and don’t want to try anywhere else or for students that love a school but it’s more of a reach. I’m assuming they save the bad news for the end and for some of the students the AOs thought Tulane wasn’t the best fit. It’s just the way it is, it sucks but it’s true and it would be the same decision tech scandal or not save for the creation of January admissions. @barb2021

Most people who apply ED are applying to reach schools because ED strengthens their application. Otherwise, why apply ED instead of EA? My guess is that the ED applications were not as strong as accepted EA apps in general. Hence, Spring admit is a way for these students to attend their reach school. Many, many colleges and universities offer Spring admit. It is nothing new or strange, though maybe new for Tulane. These students certainly have the option to turn elsewhere for their education. No need to get salty about it.

I’m in so I’m not personally offended but I sympathize with admissions and disgruntled parents at the same time. It’s a tough situation and the first time trying ED! I hope Students realize that maybe this path wasn’t meant for them and they should explore other options. It’s a sign from the universe… im just kidding but who knows

I honestly don’t understand the big uproar about the spring admit. I went into this process knowing that Tulane was absolutely a reach academically for me, and I had full acceptance that I was not going to get in. This outcome sucks, and I think I will have to consider my other options before committing to being a new student in January, but 7 semesters at Tulane is better than none.

@789frizbee, I think that part of the response to the spring admit is that people were not aware of it - and now might be REQUIRED to accept it as part of the ED process. Kind of a big deal.

It is my understanding from an earlier post Spring Admit is not binding.

@skeptile yes that is right it is not binding.

@“800m In My Blood” The admission email makes it clear that the spring admission is not binding for ED students. It’s a 100% take it or leave it decision.

Does anyone think EA decisions could possibly come out today?

Did anyone get any tulane mail today? My friend got a thin envelope but has not opened it yet… what can it be?
