We go back to Philly in March for U of Arts. During our visit this time (Temple), we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & while it was a decent hotel, I was hoping to stay elsewhere & something near the college. Any suggestions?

UArts will be easier because it’s in Center City. I’d just stay in a hotel within walking distance that fits in your budget. Everyone has a different take on what makes a good hotel (and what is walking distance!). Rittenhouse Square is a nice area that is pretty close to UArts. You’ve probably seen this, but UArts has a link of nearby hotels: Are there any here that strike your fancy? http://www.uarts.edu/sites/default/files/downloadable-resources/uarts_nearby_hotels.pdf

We stayed at the Hyatt at the Bellevue when we went to UArts. An older hotel, but well situated and very comfortable. There was a Starbuck’s in the lobby.
How did your daughter like Temple?

Connections-thank you, I did see that link. Need to look at them all again & maybe even call to see if they offer a discount if you are there for U of Arts auditions.
Do you know anything about the Alexander Inn?

Broadwayorbust18-just put our review on the audition day/review thread. In short, she loved it! Great day, great auditions!

broadwaybust18, how was U of Arts? We head there March 22, her second to last audition.

We stayed at the Double Tree and got a discount by mentioning the audition

If you don’t mind me asking, how much of a discount?
How was the parking situation there?

I actually do not know how much, my mom booked it, I was just told we got one. The Double Tree has a parking garage associated with the hotel so it was very easy. We walked everywhere, 3 or so blocks the farthest, once we dropped the car off.

Thank you!

We stayed in the Embassy Suites and walked everywhere. It’s right across the street from the Kimmel Center and on the same block as all of UArts. Also within walking distance of the tourist parts of Philly as well. We loved our visit there!

We stayed in Candlewood Suites Philadelphia-Mt. Laurel which was a very short drive to Philly, and REALLY CHEAP and REALLY NICE!!

If you stay outside of Philly in NJ, like Calliene, you can get some very inexpensive rates. In Cherry Hill/Mt Laurel, there are zillions of nice hotels. It is a 15 minute drive into Philly over the Ben Franklin. From these hotels to UArts would take probably 20-25 minutes tops. For budget conscious people, this would be a good deal. You can also take the train if you are insecure about driving into the city–you’d have to drive to a PATCO station, probably Haddonfield. It would be about a 10-15 minute drive to the station. If anyone is interested in this, feel free to pm.

How much did you pay for parking at the Embassy Suites & the one I’m finding doesn’t appear to be across the street from the Kimmel Center, am I not looking at the right one?

If we stay outside of the city, do you think traffic will be a problem on a Saturday morning? Is there parking at U of Arts?

We had no problem finding parking when D auditioned. There were numerous parking garages right near the school.

Traffic crossing the Ben Franklin is not a problem. It’s not NYC. Certainly not Saturday morning. You can also easily find street parking Saturday morning by UArts.
