My understanding of rolling admission is first come first served.
When does rolling admission begin for Michigan and when do the results come out? and does this mean Michigan doesn't have a EA/ED/RD system?

lastly, would I be able to apply to Michigan even if I apply SCEA or ED to another college?

sorry for such insincere, hectic post; I tried finding some information on the Michigan website; apparently, I'm not a very good researcher :( Sorry to leave all these burden on you, but any comment will be greatly helpful :)

Thanks.

Rolling admission at Michigan is not necessarily first come, first serve. If your well qualified (3.8+, 1400+ SAT) then applying earlier will help your scholarship opportunities especially if you are out of state. If Michigan is more of a target/reach school for you, they may defer you no matter how early you apply.

I'm not sure exactly when the rolling admissions begin but I had a friend who applied during the later part of summer in order to qualify for a scholarship involving debate team(she was the head of a team nationally ranked), and she ended up getting offered a full ride.

I think you'd be able to apply to ED to another school even if you apply early on to Michigan. However, you'd have to attend your ED school if expected, even if Michigan gives you a nice financial deal.

To answer the other questions the OP has...rolling admissions begin the instant that UofM starts to accept application...results come out periodically...so if you apply in september expect results 4 to 12 weeks (i think) after your application date...if you applied in october...same thing...expect the results 4 to 12 weeks after your application is in...

I have never heard of a ea/ed system in place at UofM...so im gonna say tentatively that there isn't one...but please correct me if im wrong...

Michigan doesn't have any EA/ED/RD, but they do have something called "preferred admission". I'm not sure what that means exaclty, but your chances are slightly enhanced if you apply before that deadline.

Since Michigan has rolling admissions, you can apply to Michigan even if you apply to another school EA/ED.

The admissions process at Michigan starts in late August. That's when applicants start applying.

wow, thanks everyone!

sorry, but I have one more question :)

I've been looking through some of the posts and have found that if you receive a scholarship offer, you have to withdraw all of your other college app. before a set date. Does this hold true for acceptees without any financial aid or can they still wait until April to reply whether to attend or not? I never knew colleges turned down financial aid packages; it'd really suck if you do wait until April 1st and find out all other colleges turned you down and you had to attend U-M without the FA.
