Does anyone have any information/experience with the Senate Page Program?
I know you have to be sponsored by a senator and turn in an application with letters of rec. I was wondering if anyone knew how competitive it is for the summer session, if it’s solely connections-based (applications without significant connections get thrown out), etc. Any insight would be helpful!
I didn’t even know this existed, but check out this thread - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/1163128-us-senate-page-program.html
To basically summarize- it seems just like RSI, but for government instead of scientific research.
But good luck! I’m sure you’ll get in!
It’s almost 100% based on connections. I’ve worked on Capitol Hill and I can tell you with absolute certainty that if you are unattached (i.e. aren’t a son or daughter of a donor/political backer) your only hope is your home state senator. With them, the key is to ask super early. Insanely early.
I would encourage you to check out the US Senate Youth Program (USSYP). The scholarship got doubled to $10,000 so the competition might be a bit more intense, but don’t let that discourage you! It will be the best week of your life!
Also, if you are unsuccessful in those endeavors, check out Boys’/Girls’ State. Not as prestigious, but still fun.
If you have any questions about Hill life or anything else like that, don’t hesitate to PM me!
Hi! I’ve been selected to move onto the second round for interviews for Dianne Feinstein, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for the interview? Do they mostly ask personal or political questions? Thanks!
