First off, is it a requirement to go to orientation as an incoming student?

Do you register for classes there and/or find out where your dorming?

Yes, I believe it is a requirement

No, that comes in the mail.

Call the school for Orientation requirements. It may be recommended but not mandatory. (I’m sure some people have conflicts with the date, or can’t come up, etc…)

I do recommend it though. It seems organized with lots of activities planned. Greta way to meet some kids and stay in the dorm.

I don’t think orientation is 100% mandatory, but the two day event is definitely worth it. Especially if a student is planning on living in the dorms, orientation is an opportunity to see campus again, meet some friends, and get a taste of what the first few weeks will be like. For people who aren’t extremely outgoing (like myself), orientation is a crash course in how to be outgoing and make friends. It sounds odd, but if you have lived in the same place forever and gone to school with the same people, it is really easy to “forget” how to meet people and put yourself out there. Highly recommended for those who are transitioning into college life for the first time.
