UC Berkeley 2017 Transfer Thread

@briank82 You’re right. We just might be taking all of this a bit too intense. Hopefully tomorrow lays all of our concerns to rest.

@hotarutomoe Possibly? I did sign up for a summer class that I haven’t paid for, so that might be why I can make one. Though maybe anyone with a calcentral account can make an email account? I made one and it’s open on another tab right now.

@BoredEngineer You’re welcome! Hopefully everything works out for all of us. We can only pray and hope at this point. :l

For econ, looks like only 4.0 got into UCLA this year @Eunie314

GPA: 3.91
Accepted:
UCLA: bio
UCSD: biochem
UCI: chem

Hopefully get into cal x.x

@hotarutomoe Turns out it’s fairly easy to be elegible to make a bconnected account. “UC Berkeley faculty, emeriti, staff, students, concurrent enrollment students, visiting scholars, post-docs, and certain affiliates who have an active CalNet ID” I assume we’d fit under concurrent enrollment students.

This is weird. This thread basically doesn’t grow.

@weilan Join us in the other thread! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1887909-uc-berkeley-2017-transfer-thread.html#latest It’s not amazingly active but it’s more active than this one if that’s any solace.

Hello!! so I was wondering what you guys think my chances are…
I’m transferring from CCC with a 3.85 gpa as a psychology major.
I will be done with all the pre-reqs this semester but one math course…(taking a handful of the pre-req classes this semester)
Accepted: UCSB, UCI
Waitlisted: UCLA

How bad is it to not have completed all the pre reqs and that i’m taking a lot of them this semester?

Chancing the day before UC Berkeley decisions come out? Come on; just let it happen!

Does anyone know what time they come out? And does anyone know if there is a chance even tho UCLA denied me. I pretty much have my heart set on Irvine, but if cal accepts me I’ll have to rethink everything lmaooo

People can sign into cal central with their map account…?

Your chance should be pretty strong. I really don’t know how they select people

Btw, do you guys believe the rumor there is high chance that you will only be accepted by either UCB or UCLA? It’s kinda like balancing between two locations in California

@5HisLife I had the same question earlier, and apparently the answer is yes. Look at last year’s thread. Bunch of people got rejected by LA but got admitted by Cal.

@Orangered123 Some people are saying they can access cal central with their map info. Can you? Do you have to make a separate account or? I’m so confused

Anyone else doing random stuff like cleaning the house, getting all hw out the way, and other stuff to waste time and keep yourself busy lol?

@lexluther96 I had to go through the cal central registration through this form. https://myapp.berkeley.edu/register/2017

Somehow since then though I was able to connect my uc berkeley my admission portal info. I don’t know how I did it but I am currently able to log into cal central using the MAP info. Though I did originally make an account through the registration form method.

@Orangered123 Is that what everyone is doing? Is there something indicative of admission on there?

@jonathaanv I wish. :frowning: I’ve got an intense math midterm this evening so I’m studying for that while trying to keep myself calm and distracted from thinking about tomorrow. Not working out that well though since I’m here.

@Weilan I don’t think it works like that. I do believe however that maybe the region you live in (norcal vs socal) gives you a better chance with the respective UC, but even that seems a little bit of a stretch.

@lexluther96 Maybe? For some people (not me and some others) when they made their Cal Central account there seems to be a notification in the notifications that stating, “Visitor & Parent Services offers special tours for newly admitted and waitlisted students and their families.” Though when people click it supposedly links to this page: http://visit.berkeley.edu/campus-tours/welcome-new-admits/

On the page it states:

"Welcome Class of 2021!
Congratulations on being admitted to Berkeley!
Visit the campus as you make your acceptance decision

April 1-30: Tours for newly admitted freshmen, waitlisted students, and their families.

Special tours will be offered seven days a week at 11:30 am, leaving from the Koret Visitor Center in California Memorial Stadium. Led by campus ambassadors, learn about Berkeley’s history, traditions, academics, research, and student life. Ask questions, get information to help you make your decision. Reservations are preferable, but if the tour on the date you’d like to visit is full, be assured that you will be able to join a new admit tour even if you don’t have a reservation. Check in at the Visitor Center at 11:15 am.

To our other visitors: This tour is for class of 2021 newly admitted students and their families only. See our other tour offerings on the tour overview page."

So it’s clearly aimed at freshmen, but the question is why some possible transfers got the notification while others did not. One could think that it’s been sent out accidentally to all newly admitted students, transfers included. Or simply could be a weird situation. Either way we can’t be sure of anything. Best bet is to wait to tomorrow and hope for the best.

Anyone know what time tomorrow decisions will be out? Is it after 5PM like UCLA?
