UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Waitlisted Applicants Thread

@Anxiety82379e28ndl Do you have to choose one or the other? Or does the opt form give you an option to choose neither?

Hey guys, I’ve been watching this thread for a while so I figured I would make an account and comment.
Waitlisted NR-Environental sciences
UC gpa 4.3
unweighted 3.9
1300 SAT essay 6/6/8
in-state
first generation

@Rajamani

4.3 weighted GPA
1520 SAT

800 chemistry subject test
790 math 2 subject test

Waitlist - Bioengineering
3.8 uw/4.6 w gpa (idk how to calc UC gpa)
1540 SAT
800 Chem SAT & 800 Math II SAT

Does anyone know chances of getting into Engineering from waitlist?

@Anxiety82379e28ndl should be same as other L&S bc L&S doesn’t admit by major. At least that’s what I’m hoping. Also are u OOS bc it seems like pretty much all of the OOS waitlisters get in anyway

@JigglyPuffs123 L&C CS, thanks for the clarification. do students from EECS or L&C CS have a greater chance of admittance from the waitlist, do you know?

@nightrainlily Engineering is def harder to get in off waitlist I hear most waitlist admits are L&S

really? all of the OOS get in?

Does in-state get a higher chance to get in?

Is anyone going to Cal Day despite being waitlisted?

The form give an option to chose any one or both @ 32Riversk

Nope. In the case of Berkley they take more of the Instate aplicants off the waitlist. The reason being because in the last few years, they were accused of admitting more OOS than highly qualified IS. Hence, even last year they took most IS off the WL. I’m IS by the way. @ JigglyPuff

Man waitlist is feelsbad.
I’m waitlisted to UCLA as well… There’s little hope for that one though; according to UCLA’s FAQ only admits 200-500 students out of the waitlisted applicants.

Currently applying as L&S Computer Science (Basically undeclared)
1550 SAT, 4.3 Weighted, 770 Math II, 780 Biology

I feel like this year’s waitlist is going to be pretty bad because there were so many applicants, but I hope they admit like 50% of us just like last year.

did anyone get the EOP email?? I am very confused…

what is that?

@Me2000
It’s an email I got from Berkeley’s Educational Opportunity Program. I clicked it on my UC application awhile ago that I was eligible. It reads:

“We are pleased to inform you that you are considered an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) student at Berkeley!”

Except I was waitlisted lol, come on Berkeley don’t do this to me AHH!

When do we have to submit WL opt in form ?

S got the same email.
EOP website claims “Students are notified that they are considered EOP at admission.” But he’s on waitlist, not admitted.
“In 1964, the Educational Opportunity Program was introduced at UC Berkeley as a faculty initiative to support the disproportionately small numbers of first-generation college and low-income students admitted to the University.”

OOS, undeclared math & physical sciences.

@Anxiety82379e28ndl if u look at the years where only OOS applicants were waitlisted (2013 and before), 90-100% of them got in. However, the reason why more IS applicants off WL NOW is bc there are aTON of IS applicants on WL.I am pretty sure there are only a couple hundred OOS at most on WL. I hope this is true bc Im OOS lol

@techrprnt do you know if getting this email means anything regarding our waitlist status or was it just an error??
