Hey guys,
I’m a current community college student, applying to Berkeley for transfer in November(would begin fall 2016). I’m in the Transfer Alliance Program, have a 3.9 GPA, and am super passionate about my subject. I’m optimistic but am TAGing Davis as well. Does anybody know how feasible it would be to double major as a transfer in MES and PACS? I would have to begin my Arabic language studies at Cal, since my school does not offer it, but was thinking I might be able to knock out a couple of the 4 semesters required by studying abroad in Jordan for a semester. I definitely want to have a life and some time for extracurriculars, but my original intended major, PACS, has so much crossover with MES because my focus is in the Middle East. And really, I am going to need to learn Arabic either way, so I’m thinking it might enhance my educational experience. Any thoughts? Also curious if anyone knows how taking 5 semesters to complete would be handled: both majors seem to require that 2 classes be taken senior year, each during a specific semester to finish up, but that seems to assume you are graduating in Spring? I’m sure they have something in place for people taking longer, just not sure what it is. Holler if you are planning/enrolled in either of these majors too!
crrriiiiiiccckkkeeetttttssss haha
Hello! I am also a community college student looking forward to transfer to UC Berkeley and pursue the PACS major, as well as a double major or minor in Anthropology, if it is allowed. I know it’s not exactly your other major, but it’s great to get to know other people that have applied to PACS! Maybe we can keep in contact for further acceptance… do you by any chance understand how the pre requisite of language works? Did I understand It incorrectly, or if I pursued my high school in a non-English country this pre requisites are cleared? Are you transferring from a California community college? I know it’s very complicated, but I am transferring from Washington… I hope we can continue this conversation!
Hey just saw this, sorry! This is the week, good luck! If you’re fluent in another language they’ll either take your coursework or you can test out I’m pretty sure.
