@LeoAlva - trying to convince my son to play rugby. Not sure of the time commitment.
Congrats to all who got accepted!!
That said, anyone else get rejected with a 4.0 and prereqs met? Trying to figure out what I did wrong here…
whats your major? @lookingxaround
@sugarcane1 thank you so much i really appreciate it i wish you the best!
ADMITTED!
Got accepted for Spring 2020.
Anyone else get accepted for spring?
@katyamzz Art Practice, which I’m fairly certain isn’t too impacted. I wasn’t able to take the “Introduction to Visual Thinking” course as that isn’t offered outside of UCB, but I took advanced photo, painting, drawing, art history as well as all general breadth categories for L&S (can’t do IGETC since I’m out of state)
Got admitted to Haas school. I still cannot believe I got in because UCB was not in my plan. I applied just because my counselor recommended me to give a try. I am grateful for his help since he planned everything for me.
However, I am not going to UCB because I dont fit in that environment. My top choice is UCLA and UCI. Also got accepted by UCI.
Here my stats:
GPA: 3.95
Still have WR2, Calculus 3B and Acct 1B for this Spring.
I dont have enough class for Breadth course.
Finish GE in this summer.
Accepted
CSU Transfer
Integrative Biology
GPA: 3.5
Pre-reqs: Missing ochem 2
Accepted: UCB
Denied: UCSB, UCD
I got admitted but I’m really scared now. I never planned for Berkeley. I only planned for Irvine and now i’ve been accepted to both. I’m hoping UCLA accepts me because then I wouldn’t have to leave SoCal. But If UCLA doesn’t accept me I don’t know what I’d do. I feel like I’d regret it so much if i chose Irvine over Berkeley, but I also don’t want to be miserable at Berkeley. I haven’t heard any good things about it besides the prestigiousness. All students seem miserable there too. Any advice?
Any other waitlisted people out there??? Can anyone tell me what are the odds of being accepted eventually?? Last year’s waitlist thread was pretty depressing. Please let me know if anyone knows anything…
Is anyone considering appealing?
@anenglishmajor you are in the same situation with me. I told my parents that I choose UCI instead of UCB if UCLA rejected me; and my parents say i am crazy because Haas school is #1 business major in UC system. But I am thinking about even if I go UCB I can not be happy because the environment is very competitive. However, you can consider the opportunity can have for a job because it is near Bay Area.
@nanavn Yea I feel that. I don’t want to sound ungrateful either. This opportunity is so amazing! But I’m just worried about how the overall environment there will affect me mentally. I don’t want to go somewhere that I’ll be miserable, but how can you give up the chance to go to the #1 UC school. UGHH im torn
Hey for everyone who is feeling nervous or what not about the culture at Cal. It is really not that bad, it’s a super chill campus, I personally have not dealt with any crazy people. Discussions in classes have been open with both conservative and liberal students. Dont get sucked into all the hear say BS that gets people feeling like its more than it is. I have been here for a year now and it has been hard with lots of readings but nothing crazy. The students here are you, the same people who are nervous or scared to progress on to the next chapter. If got accepted its because you will bring value.
hey guys! I was just accepted but im super nervous. I love Berkeley but high cost of living just terrifies me; I got a good amount of financial aid (27,000 in gift aid), so net cost is somewhere around 10k. is anyone else in the same boat of just fearing the cost?? I got into UCSB and its less expensive to live there, might just go there but im not sure yet
It’s so weird that the school that is famously known for housing radical leftist marches and constantly curating “safe Spaces” is actually one of the most competitive and most academically challenging colleges in the Country.
In my head, UC Berkeley grooms students to be prepared for the job world. Sure college is gonna be tough, but it will create this ability to not only succeed under tough and stressful situations at work but also mold that mindset to go after the next step in your career (like a promotion). These skills are especially useful for business majors but applies to any major at Cal.
UCB is kinda like a boot camp for the workforce, and less about chilling and basking in the sun like at UCLA (don’t get me wrong, UCLA is amazing). It all comes down to what you want out of college, either a chance to become a shark in the job world… or have the best years of your life partying and chilling before accepting a job.
Accepted!!!
Transfer from UCLA
Media Studies (planning to declare or double major in Political Economy; admitted into Letters & Science)
GPA: 3.97
Pre-reqs: Done (for both Media Studies and Political Economy)
Accepted: UC Berkeley, UC Davis
After such a rough time last year, I’m honestly so grateful I’m given another opportunity to attend my dream school! I’ve honestly been to Berkeley three times this month to visit friends that go to Cal and I honestly love it there and can see myself going there. I’m most likely gonna SIR but I gotta check with financial aid and whatnot!
Also I’m planning to take POLECON 45 over summer sessions to fulfill that last requirement to possibly declare Political Economy during fall semester. Does double majoring in Media Studies and Political Economy sound doable or too much?
@LiBai123 I’m interested in EEP for fall 2020, I was wondering what your stats were and what you talked about in the personal insight questions. Thanks, and congrats on the admission!
Got in for spring 2020!
Major: Poli sci w/ a GPA of 3.88
Pre-reqs and igetc finished this fall.
I know I’m lucky to get in at all and I appreciate my acceptance but I can’t help but be a tad bit bummed about the spring acceptance. Oh well!
