^^^^ I have gotten such a good response! Everyone is so happy and it just makes me so much more excited to go!! One of my classmates got me a bunch of cookies with a congrats card haha but I’m still waiting for UCLA but I’m leaning more to Berkeley right now. You should be so excited it’s an amazing school and we all worked super hard to get in!
I would go to the transfer day to check out the vibe.
@willowstil YES! My family literally watched me ball my eyes out when I got rejected out of High School. Now when I called them everyone was like “oh really?..thats cool” like man…I wanted the YouTube freak out family. To be fair I also opened at work so I didn’t have a chance for them to see me excited. I guess in a way we should be happy that our friends and family were so confident in us that they were rather unsurprised by our admittance.
Most of my family (sisters, parents) aren’t very excited for me, although in their defense, they wanted me to go to UCI so I (and my kids) would move closer to them.
@Ohm888 What does one have to say to get Berkeley to tell them the reason for their rejection? The person I spoke with on the phone was very adamant that they could not give a reason.
4.0 L&S CS reject here, IGETC certified and finished all the prereqs available at my CCC
@misseskite@Not2cool4school I’m sorry you guys have had similar experiences! My counselor told me I need to set aside a time to just be excited for myself, jump up and down, run around outside screaming “I GOT INTO BERKELEY” which is a sweet idea but it’s just not the same without other people imo. This whole process also just reminds me of my senior year of high school which was such a painful and difficult time for me, I’m trying to just enjoy the moment and not dwell on those hard memories. I hope we can all at least be proud of ourselves and what we’ve accomplished. And that’s a good point misseskite, I think it’s true that people weren’t surprised because they believed in us
@valfletcher I’m glad you’ve gotten a good response, and that’s so sweet of your classmate I’m the opposite, leaning towards UCLA, but we’ll see where I end up!
S is accepted to UCB for Applied Math major. Even got the “Berkeley Bound” letter. We are pretty stoked, at least until reality sets in.
CCC transfer with full IGETC and will earn AS-T in Math in 2 years flat
GPA after 3 semesters = 3.54 in CCC Honors program
Completed 2018 paid summer internship in Europe as C++ programmer
Tutors all levels of Computer Science at CCC
This time he was more strategic about % acceptance by major at each campus. Also accepted to UCI (TAG) and UCR (early acceptance) for CS major. Denied at Davis for CS. Waiting to hear from UCLA (Math of Computation), UCSD (CSE) and UCSB (CS).
Is minor in CS or double major (L&S) even feasible at UCB?
Politics are non-concordant with prevailing views at Cal–that is a concern. Housing has probably been discussed, so will review the thread. Something on campus, tending toward the studious, serious and not-so-lefty side would work.
@willowstil Definitely! I’m lucky I have an amazing husband who is just as excited as I am. My co-workers and most of my friends were very excited as well, one even left a card on my desk! But, I think it’ll seem more real when we get to campus. Congrats, you’ve earned this, and you belong at Berkeley!
As far as my own experience dealing with my kid from last year…my kid is a very very unemotional person, slightly on the spectrum, nothing at all excites him. He won an individual national championship and got to represent the US in a sport in middle school and didn’t even crack a smile one bit, even as all of us parents were celebrating. Didn’t even cry one bit at his mom’s funeral. Yet, there were a tear or two in his eyes (as he described to me) as he saw the confetti come out from the email. I wish I was there at the time to witness it, I was driving home from an interview with zero expectations of any acceptance after he had gotten rejections everywhere in the past week or 2 from schools like UCLA to USC to Vanderbilt to Northwestern, when he called with the news.
Hey, so I see some of you guys also don’t see the cal grant on your portal. Do any of you know how to fix that? I called and all they say is that I have to add Berkeley onto my fafsa application even though I already have it on there.
ACCEPTED
CCC: De Anza College

EXcited for everyone who got in! and for anyone who did not get in, this should never determine your worth or ability as a student. An education is what you make of it, so dont be discouraged and continue working hard!!
In case anyone was wondering, I called the cal grant people and they said cal grants don’t get processed until the end of June and that’s when we are supposed to accept them
hey guys!!! back on my application, I planned to take a class at my cc this summer, it wasn’t for my igetc or anything it was just another sequence of chem. my reg date isn’t until the 29th, and I checked and the class is already full. my conditions of admission say I have to “complete all in-progress and planned coursework” and im super nervous because I don’t want my admission rescinded. im very nervous about the whole thing right now
Somebody from the transfer center emailed me saying that they were taking me off the list for the transfer reception on May 4th, because it’s invite only and the invites haven’t gone out yet. Except that the page on their website doesn’t say anything about it being invite only and has a big ol “RSVP” button that anyone can click and fill out the form… That’s a big whoops on their part lol
@GoodAfternoonSir I wish I could do that, but my semester doesn’t end until the very end of May haha. Best of luck! I also saw the same trend you noticed, fingers crossed we hear then
