UC Berkeley Fall 2020: Transfer Thread

Ok doesn’t sound too bad then, so we apply in the first semester, then they check to see how we performed and admit us based on this after the first semester?

Anyone heard anything about an invitation to apply to regents? Just wondering cause i havent seen anything on this page about it. I know UCLA sent out their invitation on Friday.

Does anyone know the chances of me being admitted for Fall 2021 if I got in but couldn’t attend this year? Do I need to be worried, or am I stressing myself out unnecessarily?

I heard it’s low but possible. You have to apply to defer your acceptance and youll be notified by July 31 if they will allow you to defer

I guess so. You just have to submit the application for the major by the end of your first semester, and then you should be accepted if you completed the two requirements with a 2.7.

I wouldn’t be deferring, just reapplying next year. So, a whole new application cycle. But I know they’ll see the old application and might wonder about it.

Have you thought about trying to defer? That way it basically guarantees your acceptance. I don’t think getting in this year would have a negative bearing on your chances next year if you were to apply again

Hey guys! I have a question, are we automatically admitted to our major if we were admitted to L&S? I’ve seen conflicting comments in a lot of forums so I’m a bit confused

@deeaanaa depends on your major requirements, you usually come in undeclared though.

Anyone get a welcome to Haas notification and not apply to Haas?

I applied for economics and got in. Is there any way once I get there to try to apply into HAAS?

If I withdraw my app, will another waitlist person be able to attend? I’ve already decided on UCSC.

Just out of curiosity what made you choose UCSC over Berkeley?

Hi! I have a question regarding conditions of admission. One of the conditions says “I agree to complete all planned and in-progress coursework with a 3.0 or higher GPA, and no individual grade lower than a C (due to COVID-19, Pass/No Pass grades will also be accepted)” and then one of my classes is listed. Why is one of my classes listed and why not my other classes that I am taking this semester?

I’m not sure, but mine also lists only one of the classes that I am currently taking this semester

can’t really have any extracirculars due to COVID… what should I do (applying this fall for psych, currently have a 3.83 gpa)

@DevinTse there really is not anything you can do about that, just make sure you complete your major prep, IGETC, and try to maintain a high GPA!! i am sure that they will be understanding of a lack of extracurriculars because everyone is kinda in the same boat about that!! also make your essays demonstrate how much you care about what you want to do, and how you would be a good fit at Berkeley!! good luck!! you got this!

@shredder47 i got directly into ucsc for comp sci but undeclared for berkeley

@spanlang Berkeley doesn’t invite you to apply for Regents. They simply announce recipients usually a couple weeks after acceptance notices.

i ended up dropping one of my planned classes cuz it isn’t part of the req for my major. But the condition of admissions says you have to take all the planned classes. I filled out the course update form and im kinda worried lol.

Ummmm… Why would you do that?
