Interesting. Might be fair to assume that it’s either good that we weren’t selected … or bad. lol. Our applications were either strong enough and didn’t need further corroboration, or they weren’t strong enough to even get the second look.
Ah. Well, at least it’s almost April!
Where have people applied for backups and safeties? I did a few random UCs, along with Sonoma State and Cal Poly SLO … everything for business or something econ-related to business, though I have no interested in economics. I was admitted to Sonoma State and Cal Poly, with Cal Poly being my #2 choice should I not get into Haas.
My backups are not very promising… I TAGged to UCSB for physics, applied to UCSD for Econ, UCLA TAP for Statistics(don’t even have the major math pre reqs so this is a silly long shot), and UC Davis for Statistics (have some of their prereqs but could easily be denied because I am missing a couple). So if I don’t get into Haas, chances are I’ll have to do UCSD for Econ, which I’m not very interested in, or UCSB for Physics
Worst case scenario, I tagged to UC Davis. I applied to UCLA UCI UCSD and UCSB.
@HaasBounded Physics? That’s very different from Business. @-)
Nice.
I could see myself at Cal Poly, but I don’t really care about anywhere else that I applied. I don’t really want to move though (I’m a bit older, somewhat established where I live, and my wife has a career here), and I don’t really care to go to Davis or Sonoma State, both of which are drivable from where I live.
It’s really Haas or bust for me, but I don’t think I could walk away at this point either.
@itakenotes yeah… I’m interested in engineering but there were too many prereqs, but by TAGging into UCSB for physics I can sort of take that route. However if I did end up going to UCSB I would probably switch to statistics.
Shortly put… It is haas or bust for me as well… This wait is killing me.
UCB, Econ UC Davis Tagged, Global Studies UCLA (did not have the prereqs done), Econ UC San Diego. Bunch of other schools Upenn, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, etc.
Would anyone be interested in swapping personal statements (privately of course), for fun? I’m interested in comparing the route I took to others…
Mine are really personal so I’d rather not, but I’m sure some might.
In terms of general themes though, one of mine talks about my business experience, what I hoped to accomplish, and what I’ve done in that regard. My background, I think, is fairly unique so I discussed that.
The other was about overcoming a pretty severe brain injury and how it really shaped who I am now, and how in a weird way it connected me to Berkeley. It also discussed my military service.
@briank82 Completely understandable, sounds like they were probably some really moving essays
I just took my Calculus II final today. I think I am getting a B in this class. It would be terrible if I had to report a B for my Winter grades. :((
Sorry man. I know the feeling, I just barely missed an A in Calc I.
Do you have to report the grade, or no? Regardless, there’s probably a decent chance anything submitted at this point is even looked at.
Yeah that’s right, the one sent to all of us I think that said some people might be invited for interviews?
I’m taking one quarter class and just turned my final in last night. Unless I failed miserably, I should have an A in it. We’ll see.
GPA: 3.95 Transferable/Major: 4 (got a B in an English class that isn’t even a prereq for them)
Prereqs: Econ, and Calc 2 are in progress
Breadth: only 2 left
ECs and Volunteer: Member of Entrepreneurship / Investors club, and Investment Banking Club. Also have some volunteer work at Farmers Insurance, and was part of a student organized club for people from my country.
Work: Executive Assistant to the CFO of a Pharma company, worked at a pharmacy, and also at a Construction Company.
Essays: 9.5 maybe, really confident on my PS.
Pros: Worked full time while at school.
Always had over 15 units!
OMG I got an A in Calculus 2.
Gr8 Job! Probably one of the toughest math classes at CC level.
Thanks. It was probably the hardest class, I have ever taken in my life. I spent a stupid amount of time on it.
I heard having a W is terrible for Haas. I took a W for Calculus I which is a major prerequisite. But, I retook it and got a B. I didn’t explain my W. Am I screwed? :((
W’s don’t matter unless you show some crazy trend of them.
