I am a trans muslim and proud of being in that minority, I feel like I’m somewhat of a minority group even though i’m technically considered (white), but I’ve had a lot of issues during my college such as my parents splitting up, my parent almost dying from a gang related incident and leaving him/her(i don’t want to say) mentally incapacitated. I’ve come from pretty humble beginnings, being the first generation in my family to go to college, my parents being refugees I’ve had it hard assimilating into American society growing up, but I’ve worked fast food at age 16, and at age 15 worked at my high school. I’m from California if anyone is wondering. Do I have any chance of getting into Haas, I really want to work administration and to become a rich successful operations director for internet companies in Silicon Valley.

Sorry, I’m not very good at knowing how College Confidential works, so I forgot to add in a few points. last spring I took 2 classes and got a D in one, and this spring i took 3 classes, got a C in one and a W in the other. The W being in econ which I will redo and get an A in in the fall. I’m worried that not taking 4 classes each semester will look bad on my app, and sometimes getting a few bad grades. Last spring I was kicked out of my house for being trans and was homeless the entire semester until I got my job in sales in marketing. This semester, my parents finalized their divorce and I got sick and my heart and lungs were failing and I was in the hospital a month and a half before classes ended. I guess i’ve had some extenuating circumstances but I hope they do not impede my chances, but i’m going to be a full time student for the rest of my community college. My prereqs are very strong though.

Your ECs are good but your gpa is pretty low for UCB. But apply because you may have a chance! Good Luck

^lol, why does everyone think UCB is super hard to get into that they require a perfect GPA? ive yet to hear of anyone get rejected as a transfer, and that includes a communications/rhetoric major with a 3.5 GPA. it’s not that hard.

you’ll be fine, they look at you holistically. your EC and personal story are great, that’s literally the type of person UCB looks for.

id say you’re a solid fit. don’t stress over it and demonstrate your struggles in your essays and you’ll be just fine. you’ll probably even get a full ride or some other scholarships. the 3.5 GPA person i mentioned early got that.

Looks pretty good, make sure and quantify all of your activities, people like numbers more than paragraphs
