@hopesolo Hi Hope! I’m applying to UC Berkeley Haas this year and I’d like to know how do you like the campus and Haas in general! What do you like most about haas and how is the overall experience?
Hey there - those are great questions!
First, Berkeley as a city can be very polarizing - people either love it or hate it. I quite enjoy Berkeley and grew up familiar with the area, so it’s not a big change for me at all. For others, I can imagine it is.
The Haas campus is wonderful - there’s a new building that was donated by a Haas alum (Google: Connie and Kevin Chou Hall). I recommend coming to visit at least once. You’ll find that Haas is somewhat disconnected from the main part of campus, so it can be easy to get caught up in all “Haas” things. Branching outside of Haas is key.
Haas in general is a whirlwind - there’s so much going on and so many opportunities available. As transfers, we face a very steep learning curve (classes, networking, navigating), but there is a place for everyone - you just have to find it.
What do I like most about Haas? I think being surrounded by so many smart people and having the opportunity to tap into a myriad of resources is incredible. There are clubs, research opportunities, entrepreneurs, guest speakers, and events always happening not just at Haas, but throughout campus.
The overall experience? I’d like to give some fluffy answer; but it’s been a LOT of work, so it’s easy to forget that it’s actually a really fantastic experience. Some of us are focusing on career development, others are focusing on school and enjoying the college life - whatever you want to do, you can make it happen.
I would love to speak on each of these points much further but need to get back to doing some work
Best of luck with your application. If there’s another Haas thread for 2019 - post it here and I’m happy to hop in with some advice.
Here is another thread but in a different location: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/2098134/uc-berkeley-haas-2019-transfer-thread/
Should I make another one that’s in the same category as this one?
CAN ANYONE GIVE ME DETAIL TIPS ON THE PIQs ESSAYS? I’m stressing over them like crazy!!!
@Iwishforhaas
Why don’t you start a UC Berkeley 2019 Transfer Haas thread here:

There already is one and you commented on it before
Do admissions officers take into account if you are a first-generation college student and or come from a low-income family? Will informing them of this skew the odds in my favor or will it be completely unimportant?
