UC Berkeley Haas 2018 Transfer Thread

I heard a big reason is not completing Haas Supplemental.

Strange. I wonder if they’re just not doing interviews this year.

I don’t want to believe that. Maybe there aren’t enough people on this thread? But then, we should have known already known about someone getting an invite especially since the decision day is earlier this year.

Every time I get an email notification my heart races because I’m anticipating an interview email but no luck yet. Does anyone know of a timespan that we can anticipate a potential interview request?

My mentor told me that he received his invite around late march to early April and the interview itself was a week later so I don’t think we should rule it out until at least a week into April.

Interview requests are out! Best of luck to all!

Yepp i got one tooo!! Good luck all!

Does anyone know what is the interview process like? what to expect?

To all who got the invite: what does the T-A,T-B,T-C
T-Z mean on the scheduling page?

My GUESS is that theyre perhaps the initials of the interviewers we get to choose from (?)

I didn’t get an interview request, does anyone know if more will be coming out?

So they will be interviewing for a total of 12.5 hours over a span of 2 days and with 20mins per student that comes out to be around 37-40 students? However, that’s assuming they’re only doing one interview at a time which is highly unlikely. :-?

@Ak1097 I emailed the advisor and they said “Disregard the T-A, etc. Just pick a time and date that works best for your schedule.” Hope this helps!

@kt_ay Very considerate of you! Thanks

@Ak1097 That’s quite a change from last year, interviews lasted over a span of 4 days. What days are the interviews? I know that not getting an interview can be a good/bad thing, but I can’t help but feel like I’ve already been written off ):

@thi1998 Getting an interview can also be a good/bad thing so please don’t be discouraged!!

What I don’t understand is, during the Haas Admissions Presentation she said that they only do interviews with people who they believe are “around the cusp”. I don’t believe that I or any of you are “around the cusp” when it comes down to academic/extracurricular performance. They probably just want to see the more human side of us without our applications.

@blk I remember them saying they want to do as many interviews as they possibly can as years progress. They interview for a variety of reasons including: making sure international students speak English well enough, getting a better sense of who we are, making sure we’re “legit” as compared to what’s on paper, and also if we’re on the cusp. I’m seeing it as a positive thing, it’s another opportunity to show them who I am and what I have to offer. Perspective is key.

Current senior at Haas. I’d recommend you stop looking so much into interviews. Getting one or not getting one can mean any number of things. I never got one and got in, and I know plenty who were the same. And I beat out hundreds of people with far better GPAs than I had. I also know plenty of people who got them and got in as well.

If you want to keep worrying about the significance of interviews, have at it
but your time and energy is better spent focusing on your current coursework.

@briank82 I’m on spring break for next week so the interview is literally the only thing that’s on my mind haha. BTW,I love the fact that you’re still active and helping out prospective transfer students! “Beyond yourself” for sure
