UC Berkeley Integrative Biology Transfer Requirements from CCC?

Hello,

I’m interested in applying as a Integrative Biology major to Cal as a junior transfer. I want to know what pre-reqs are required in order to apply as a transfer for IB. I currently attend a CCC and was on assist.org to look at the pre-reqs required in order to apply and was confused.

In the upper portion it states:

By the end of the spring term preceding fall enrollment at Berkeley,

you must complete:

  1. The L&S Requirements in Reading & Composition, Quantitative Reasoning, and
    Foreign Language; OR
  2. IGETC

Major Requirements:

Complete as many lower division major requirements as possible. See details on
preparation for this major below.

BUT, right below that it states:

MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Equivalent of:

Biology 1A, Biology 1AL and Biology 1B

Chemistry 1A and 1AL

Chemistry 3A and 3AL, 3B and 3BL

Math 10A + Math 10B or

Any two equivalent course of Math 1A + Math 1B + Math 53 + Math 54 +

Math 55

So I was simply wondering for people familiar with IB’s transfer requirements, WHICH one is correct? Do we only need to finish as many lower division major requirements as possible, or is there actually a minimum admission requirement in order to apply?

Thanks.

It means complete as many as possible, but including the minimum admission requirements.

Note that the list of lower division courses includes physics courses, but they are not in the minimum admission requirements. I.e. it is best to complete the physics courses before transfer, but not completing them before transfer will not disqualify you from admission.

@ucbalumnus Got it, Thanks a lot!

I’m currently trying to find a loop hole since I’m going to be applying as a transfer this Fall and my major is Biology. Unfortunately for UCB, they requires a full year of O-Chem (Chemistry 3A and 3AL, 3B and 3BL), and I’ll only have one semester of O-Chem done by Spring 2018. I really hate the idea of having to stay another year at CC, since I’ve completed all of the other pre-reqs except for that one semester of O-Chem.

I hear if you get in the College of L&S as a transfer, you can change your major within that college, do you know if that’s true?
