UC Davis emailed me..

Mine was not about a missing prereq or an educational gap, it was asking more about something I listed as an extracurricular, so I don’t see that them as them saying “wow, you did a really bad job explaining you’re situation”. I didn’t go into great detail about it, because it has absolutely nothing to do with my academic record or my schooling situations so I’m choosing to see it as a positive thing that I at least now I haven’t been rejected as of March 8th.

Due to rampant unethical behavior upon the behalf of undergraduate applications over the last few years the UC system has elected to randomly select 10,000 students for random questionings regarding the merits of their application.

It’s not good or bad, it’s just protocol to make sure no one is lying. Mmm kay? Relax.

I feel like I had significantly more farfetched sounding ECs (although they were all true) than “I cook”. For example, I work at NASA (not an internship, actually had a contract there). Why would they not check up on that instead of checking into me taking cooking classes. And they didn’t ask me to provide any proof, they just asked if I was still taking those classes.

not to say that you’re not correct about it being protocol.

i got one from UCSB asking about my educational gaps between summer 05-summer 06, summer 06 - summer 07, and summer 07 -summer 08, i just expained to them that i was in highschool at those times.

this was like a month ago tho…

@ Corinne - That’s odd, I mean from what I’ve heard the questions are entirely random and created to see how an applicant would answer the question regarding their work before transfer or admittance. But asking about a cooking class over employment at NASA is a litle weird but I don’t really think you have anything to worry about :)

i got an email from davis asking for my fall grades…not sure why since i posted them in the update back in january. oh well. they also wanted the grade for a course that i dropped since then…ooops! that may not be good.
