I got an email asking me for more background information pre-college is this a good sign that they are considering my application?

post your email i’ve never heard of a email like this. Unless you wrote your essay on this subject

more information, please.

I got an email from UCSD asking what did I do during my gap from May to December 2005 after high school. actually i had a bigger gap from 2005 to 2007 but in the app I only mentioned about 2006 and 2007. so yeah… what do you guys think?

In my opinion it’s more of a bad sign. In a scale of -5 to 5, I’d say it’s -1.

Of course I’m no admissions officer so…Yeah, if they’re asking you something, that means you’re not giving them what they want.

If they had to ask every single applicant for more info we wouldn’t be getting our admission decisions until summer !! But yeah, agree with the above. ^

Did you have a break between high school and college?

i think it’s more of a good sign. they are really considering you, that’s why they ask.

I got an e-mail from UC Irvine asking about my Spring 2010 gap in January…

Ya it was a gap through when I was suppose to graduate high school. I guess I’ll find out when the decisions are made haha

ntmikey you’re right, at least for my case. Last year I had the same thing happen to me. UCSD emailed me to inquire about my coursework, they accepted me. UCSB called me to ask if I was still taking the classes I promised to take in the Spring and they accepted me as well.

Just a tip, when you email them, give them only the information they ask for and a great explanation goes a long way.

Thanks janet I hope it’s a good sign

So is a gap in education a bad thing?

If you just sat on your ass than ya. If you worked then they overlook it
