So I was looking through my emails from last year and I was notified on 4/21 and apparently picnic day was the day after… o-o weird. So I guess ya’ll will hear on 4/20 this year since 4/21 is our picnic day this year. They will have a Transfer Day for those who can’t attend Picnic Day. Transfer Day is some time in May (it was May 12 last year).
hey everyone! Sorry I came so late, but I’m trying to find out my chances for being accepted as a fall 2018 transfer, and I was hoping someone could chance me?
Transferring from junior college (Gavilan College in Gilroy).
Major: Psychology
Alt.Major: Communications
Transferrable GPA: 3.111 (yeah, not too proud of it either)
Pre-Reqs: one not completed for Psychology; all completed/ in progress for communications
Applied: UCD, UCB, UCSB, UCM, SFSU, CSU Chico, CSUSM, CSUDH, Sonoma State, Sacramento State
Accepted: SFSU, CSUDH, Sonoma, Sacramento
Denied: CSUSM, Chico (transcript issue)
Waitlist: UCSB
Waiting: UCD, UCB, UCM
I’ll say that I know my chances aren’t astronomical for the UCs, but being waitlisted to UCSB makes me feel some comfort. Davis is my top choice, CSUDH probably second.
Hey! I didn’t receive the scholarship email but I can search for classes on my.ucdavis and go onto mybill and pay the deposit.
I think you need at least a 3.8 gpa.
@CalStudent42 @ChavBruvSat my friend has a 3.6 and got the email for it.
Hmm… do you guys think they look at personal achievements as well as GPA then for regents? Do they specify what makes a prospective student qualified to receive the invite?
Well… 3.57. I rounded to 3.6. @tc00000 @ChavBruvSat
Does no regents mean likely rejection?
@CalStudent42 absolutely not. Only very, very few students are even considered. 95% of people get in without regents
Question: Can anyone NOT log-in to the mybill/pay deposits by now? JW.
Regent’s Scholarship App got extended to April 17th. And @carolinelove15 what is it saying? i am able to log in so it Should be working. Try logging in again, maybe it was down for maintenance or something.
I’m missing prereqs for Davis but got the Regents email. Does that mean anything or did they just filter me by my gpa
@Twenmi On the regents email it says that getting the email is no indication of an admission decision because the office of admissions functions separately from the office of admissions.
@Twenmi
whoops totally messed up the last part there. What I meant to say was that:
On the regents email it says that getting the email is no indication of an admission decision because the office of financial aid functions separately from the office of admissions.
I know nobody can say for sure but y’all think I have even a little hope if I applied with a low GPA but an unimpacted major?
- GPA: 2.79 (2.87 after winter quarter)
- Major: Linguistics
- Prereqs: Done (Only one class but I got a C as I took it during my first few quarters of college when I didn't have a grasp on anything due to mental health)
- IGETC: Taking Stats at the moment to complete
- Decent ECs and Work exp, both include working at a school (I'm trying to be a teacher!! :3)
- Slight upward grade trend (pretty much straight Cs starting college until Spring 2017, Mostly As with a few Bs tossed in after that) I touched a little on this in my PIs about mental health and being the only person in my friend group to do 2+2 (I'm Asian, Chinese specifically so lol..)
- In my personal insights I talked about being first gen (neither parents went to/finished college), growing up with one deaf ear, and how I discovered my passion for my major.
It’s really just my extremely subpar GPA that has me worried. My major does have a 77% admit rate according to this https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major but the admit range GPA is 3.31-3.76… sigh. Everyone on these threads have such good grades haha. Best of luck to all of you and thanks if you read this mini rant thing.
If you guys get accepted are you going to picnic day?
@tc00000 definitely !
@tc00000 For sure. I still have to preorder my plane tickets in case I do get accepted.
I feel like I’m in the same boat! My major has a 71% admit rate but I’m not in the GPA range so I’m a bit nervous. Hopefully it all works out for us
