Are we going to get decisions before picnic day?
@thanks123 Aaaaaa reassuring to know there’s at least one person I can relate to! What’s your major?
@coolskeleton95 @thanks123 I’m with you guys I’m a sociology major below the gpa range. I’m hopeful because of the high acceptance rate and those are the 25-75th percentiles I did the math and I will still fall in between the overall acceptances(0-100% percentiles). We need to be optimistic also because every year it seems to be getting easier in terms of gpa accepted. And they are prioritizing more Community college students. Good luck guys ! Keep us posted !
Where else did you guys apply ? I haven’t heard back from UCSB,UCD,UCSC,UCSD
Hey guys, spoke to an admissions panel member at an event over the weekend–She said decisions will come out FRIDAY 4/13/18 if they can get through all of the apps, or by 4/20/18 at the latest. It’s always a Friday after 4PM. Best of luck everyone!!
@carolinelove15 oh wow!!! That’s sooner than expected!!!
@carolinelove15 as cool as that would be… that answer didn’t sound too promising imo. I’d just stick to the 20th and not look too much into the 13th (lol Friday the 13th). Would be an awesome suprise tho!
@RaymondAlvaradoH Sure hope so! We off paper smarties have to stick each other!! (-: Thanks for commenting! Also @carolinelove15 Thanks so much for the update! Excited but nervous af
Just waiting on UCSC. I also applied to UCB and UCLA for the lols because I had fee waivers but not really waiting to hear from them bc my gpa is crap.
Got into SJSU and denied from CPSLO.
@coolskeleton95 if it makes you feel any better I was accepted to UCR and UCSC with a 2.5 at my community college and 2.6 at my private school.
my gpa has increased at community college by about .5 so I feel really good about my chances also because I’m going to finish the honors program this semester. I’m currently taking 4 honors classes and am the student advocate for one of my classes. I don’t think that gpa range thing is accurate because my gpa was much lower and I was still accepted. That being said UCR and UCSC are the lower tier UCs along with Merced so I don’t want to be too confident and then be left disappointed.
@RaymondAlvaradoH Dang that’s great! Where are you applying from now? I had assumed you were a CCC as well.
@RaymondAlvaradoH Yeah for (sadly) lack of better word UCR and UCSC are kind of the “easier” schools to get into. That sounds crappy but aaaaaa. Yeah I really just hope no one applies to the Linguistics major this year (LOL) and that they really take essays into account because I feel like I did a pretty good job justifying my crap grades starting college and showing that I am doing better after I started seeking professional help.
@coolskeleton95 I applied from my community college. I stopped attending private school because it got too expensive. Last time i applied I had 2 semesters at my community college now I’m going on 7. According to the transfers by major page Linguistics had 76 applicants, 58 admit. Admit gpa range 2.95-3.56, enroll gpa of 3.09-3.33 and 76% acceptance rate. If I had to guess I’d say you’ll be accepted. You gotta take into consideration that some of those 18 applicants that weren’t accepted was probably because they didn’t finish IGETC and all those requirements to apply. I think if you have all the classes you need to apply your chances are high regardless of gpa especially in your major.
@coolskeleton95 honestly all UCs are great schools especially if you’re looking to go to grad school it really doesn’t matter where you go a UC is just a stepping stone and is going to help you get to the next place. Fortunately once you are accepted and you begin at a UC your GPA is wiped out and you start over. That gives us a fresh start and I really plan on taking advantage of that.
@RaymondAlvaradoH Aaaaa that’s reassuring. Yeah I feel like that page sometimes serves to make the schools look good and definitely psychs people out a lot (me). Is Davis your target school? If you think I’d get in, I’m almost like entirely sure you will, since your stats are better HAHA
@RaymondAlvaradoH Ironically my 20th birthday is the 12th so if they DO release decisions on the 13th that’d be a mighty fine birthday present ya knowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º)
@coolskeleton95 yeah lol that’s the way I kinda feel also but I was rejected from UCI and UCSD last year. So idk what to think I mean my gpa was low like I said about a 2.6 so definitely not high enough for Irvine or San Diego but it was worth a shot. My dream school is UCSB then UCSD. I really want to get into those two but I think I’d be happy at Davis also. Santa Cruz is my backup because I was accepted last year with a much lower GPA so I’m positive I’ll get in this time around. I just noticed i gave you the Santa Cruz stats lol but Davis isn’t much different I think your chances are good. What’s your preference on the schools like which is your 1st, 2nd choice…
