Hello and thank you in advance for reading this thread. I’m a UCSD admitted student and when I submitted my SIR there were a few questions about my residency status. After answering the four pages of questions I was required to send via mail or fax, photocopies of the green cards of my parents and me. My dad has been a permanent resident since 1990 and my mother and I became residents about three years ago. I went to community college and was qualified as resident due to my dad’s tax history. Now I’m a little worried about what the residence deputy might determine… I would like to read your opinion about my status and if how worried I should be…
I’d call the UCSD Financial Aid office for the best advice.
I’m not an expert, but if your CC classified you as instate, I’d assume a UC would too. But really, call and find out.
The UCs make a statement that while the CCCs may deem you a resident, the UCs do not always agree, as they use different criteria. As luckie said you need to contact the UCSD, but you seem to qualify (on the surface, anyhow).
@luckie13 @lindyk8 I’ll wait for them to make a decision and if for some reason they don’t accept me as in-state I will have to give them a visit. Thank you for your responses, I hope it doesn’t get too complicated.
It seems you meet these guidelines.
