Congrats!! My daughter is still waitlisted for Psychology. So that wasn’t your first choice for major?
thank you! i actually applied with psychology, hoping you daughter gets in
Congrats!!!
Thank you!!! She’s committed to CU Boulder but she really wanted UCSC. Keeping fingers crossed!!
Congrats!
Very good decision to stay with CS. I being in this field, completely recommend that. Computer engineering will prove extra difficult compared to CS, with not much advantage - bay area jobs will be similar (except for jobs in Intel, AMD type companies). SJSU has the distinct advantage of being in the Silicon valley - so internships and jobs will come easily… Tell him, in CS a lot of it goes by an individual’s passion, and what one does on the side - own projects, portfolio, etc.
Congrats again!
Daughter got off the waitlist for CS.
thanks
congrats
Thanks. Congrats to you too and everyone who got off the waitlist.
Daughter got off waitlist for Psychology.
If today’s admits have a week to respond I guess that means another two weeks before they would announce anymore?
Difficult to choose between UCSC and SJSU for CS. If he wants a job after college, than SJSU may be better - being in close proximity to the tech scene, and the school being more hands-on. But if the goal is to go for grad school, then UCSC may be better - with more fundamental level grooming in CS and advanced math related subjects.
It is too early to know if he wants to do go to grad school. Some kids probably know very early. Some probably will figure out in couple of years.
Stats? UC GPA and unweighted?
Thanks a lot kolhelp. Yes he is very passionate and determined to stay in CS. It likely will be between SJSU CS and SLO CS (if he gets off waitlist).
It will be extremely, extremely difficult to choose between SJSU and SLO for CS. Both are equally good in hand-on exposure in whatever newest technologies/frameworks the industry uses, but I still feel SJSU has the tech proximity advantage of being in the valley. Of course, personally I don’t like living in the San Jose area at all. I am glad I am not in this situation
