Will any waitlist decisions come before may 1?
I have no idea but in years past there have been acceptances from the waitlist is April.
Still waiting to hear the result of daughter’s appeal at 6:45 pm. The website says April 20th at the latest. Anyone else waiting?
On a related note, I sat next to her while she wrote and submitted her appeal and she got a screen confirming her appeal, but no email and no change in status in the portal. I’m wondering if there was a glitch.
Last year, there were supposedly a couple people who didn’t hear until 8 pm. I really hope this isn’t the case and you hear back ASAP!
good luck - let us know. and of course if anyone gets in off waitlist please let us know as well.
My daughter was waitlisted and appealed; her portal then said appeals are decided by 4/20 etc… when she looked today, her status had changed to just “waitlist” with no additional info like in the past. I’m assuming her appeal was denied, however she’s received no other info… ?
This was because of Covid. Many kids decided not to attend and kids were offered waitlist spots throughout summer. WLs moved a lot everywhere last year.
Tell her to check her email. It came today and if she can’t find it check junk folder
Our situation is similar. We didn’t check the portal until yesterday and it just said waitlisted. I watched her file her appeal. We’ve heard nothing. While it is presumably a denial, it would be nice to actually get a response to that effect.
is there any way to know how many students were offered admission this year? trying to figure out my chances but it’s hard since last years admissions were so impacted by covid
Are you talking about appeals or waitlist? There isn’t much data on appeals because they’re so rarely granted, but there are some stats about the waitlist if you scroll up in the chat! Please note that UCSC had a housing issue due to over enrollment back in 2018, so that is why the waitlist number is so low for that year. Idk if it’s been confirmed but it’s speculated that that is why UCSC utilizes the waitlist so much now!
My daugher received an email today stating her appeal was denied, but that she remains on the waitlist and they would let her know no later than mid-August (good god). The email also stated that the freshman admissions were “quite competitive” this year, and they received many waitlist appeals that were “quite compelling” however ultimately only a few were granted. They also encouraged her to accept another offer and not rely on getting off the waitlist, which we will probably do. Good luck to everyone!
I’m tracking three different waitlists so it’s possible I’m confused but I thought July 15th was the “you’ll hear by” date.
That’s what I thought as well. Why would it make sense to notify getting off the waitlist when people are already attending another school??
I’m pretty sure that’s Cal Poly, but don’t quote me. While UCSC says it’ll be anytime before mid-August, it’s usually in early to Mid-May, with waitlist admits sometimes happening in early June. Last year, they extended their waitlist until mid-August, so that might be where the wording is from, but idk for sure.
So for the transfer waitlist, when does the appeal decision will be available?I received the waitlist on April 15 and also wrote a LOCI on that day. When will I receive the respond? I worried if they saw my LOCI or not. it s been ten days.
I think it’s within 21 calendar days for transfers!
I emailed admissions last week about waitlists and they said "We will be contacting students between mid June and August if we admit students off of the waitlist. "
Does that mean no waitlist decisions will go out in the first few weeks of may??
that would be really disappointing, has anyone else heard anything?
I really don’t see that happening, as they have let people off the waitlist in Early to mid May for at least the past 2 years, but probably more. I think they’re just saying that because things are so up in the air. Last year, they didn’t close their waitlist until August, so maybe that is what they are referring to. idk, but remember how vague all the UC’s were about when we would hear about initial decisions? “Mid to late march.” No solid evidence, but UCSC really utilizes their waitlist from what I’ve seen.
