I live in California and am on the waitlist for UCSC. I got the email too. Sooooo annoying lol I thought it was a decision. Fingers crossed!!
Crossing my fingers that today in state student will hear some news. Seems like nobody in state got in yesterday.
That doesn’t mean your son was rejected. He’s still gonna have to wait like us.

Where did everyone SIR to?
D did so at UCR, registered for the orientation, and paid the on campus housing deposit.
I’m adding this just to help all of us who have been waiting through appeals, waitlist, the changing calendar, the blanking of the calendar …
My D just txt me that a classmate was denied/rejected off the waitlist on that April 25th (was orig on the calendar). We don’t know what major. She was in state. Seniors have been hush hush at her school, so they don’t seem to be digging into the details especially when a classmate is denied.
My D SIR’ed at Merced. She’s fine with going there but would prefer UCSC much more. That’s really interesting. I remember someone else saying their friend got rejected from the waitlist. I wonder why only specific in state students were rejected.
rn I’m going to Oregon State for CS
SIR’ed to Cal State Long Beach for now. Waitlisted for both UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis. I’d prefer Davis but Santa Cruz is great too. UCs have been such a slaughter this year.
A close friend of mine got into SC but waitlisted at D, SB, SD, and I
Hopefully he will get off the Waitlist somewhere to open up a spot for somoene else at SC
I SIR’ed at SDSU…it’s annoying because I want to get excited about SDSU because I love the campus, but I’m also waitlisted at my two top schools, ucsc and ucd, so I’m just tired of waiting and want to know whether I’m offered admission already.
@ScottsTotts Same!! I committed to University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, and I am happy about that but Santa Cruz is my #1. I wish we could know for sure so we can get excited about where we are going
I SIR’ed to the University of La Verne which I’m excited about but UCSC will always be my top choice. When I got that email from UCSC my heart literally started pounding

whoa!! i’m in the exact same situation as you. committed to sdsu, waitlisted at davis and santa cruz and davis is my number one choice so it’s so hard to get excited about sdsu! @ScottsTotts

Fortunately, D is excited to be going to UCR … she would be just as happy if UCSC came through. As a parent, I’m hoping for UCSC primarily because of the easier location for our family - expense-wise, time wise
Can someone please call the admissions office and ask if they will be taking students off the waitlist today (May 04)?
