UC System and High School GPA

Hi, I had a question about the UC system and how to calculate one’s high school GPA when applying to a UC (thinking of Berkeley right now). I’m a sophomore in high school, and I have straight A’s currently. However, my freshman year of high school I received an 91 in Geometry (an A- according to my high school’s grading policy, but it is worthy of note that all my other grades were 95 or higher, which are A’s and A+'s). FYI this year I am in Precalc with a 99 (seeing as I took honors alg 2 over the summer with a score of 97. Anyways, I was wondering if I should include that 91 as an A- when reporting my GPA, or should I use Berkeley’s standard (if they have one), and round it up to an A? I read that somewhere and wasn’t sure if it was true. A premature thank you to all who answer!

The UC GPA used for admissions purposes only considers 10th and 11th grade courses and the 3 summers before/during/after those years. What appears on your actual high school transcript, the numerical grades (out of 100) or the A/B/C letter grades?

UCs and CSUs do not consider +/- when recalculating high school GPAs.

If you are not a California resident, be aware that UC financial aid does not cover the $25,000 additional out-of-state tuition.

Thank you very much! That answers my question perfectly. I’ll keep the latter comment in mind as well.

current UC policy is not to provide any aid for the OOS tuition. Future policy will be no need-based aid at all
