I'm attempting to transfer from one UC to another, and I'm fairly on track in eliminating the GEs of my current campus in order to receive reciprocity at the campus I will be applying to in the fall. My question has to do with the cut-off for summer coursework. So basically, will courses I take this summer at my current UC, prior to filing an application in the fall, be taken into consideration? I read somewhere that the only instance where summer coursework is not accepted is during the summer prior to ENROLLMENT after you've found out if you've been admitted, and not the summer prior to APPLICATION FILING. Can someone please provide me with some clarification?

I’m pretty sure they will be taken into consideration…even CCC transfers usually take summer courses at some point. You’ll only have an issue if, as you mentioned, you try to take pre-req or maybe GE classes the summer before you actually make the transfer.

I’m at UCSC and my counselor told me that in order to fulfill UC reciprocity all GE courses must be completed by the end of the spring quarter prior to transfer. So summer session classes taken right before transferring wouldn’t count towards UC reciprocity. They would, however, count towards your total units in general.
