How are admissions evaluated? Does anyone know the process that they do? How many minutes to they spend looking at applications? I applied to Berkeley for example as a philosophy major. Would I be evaluated by the letters and sciences or the humanities department? Do they have quotas they they go by in admitting people? Anyone have any ideas?

I think it is mainly your GPA and the number of lower division classes you have completed.

Philosophy is in the humanities department which yields a much higher admission rate (40%) as opposed to the social sciences (17%). And as stated before, they look for GPA and prerequisite classes the most, then things like essay, grade trends, EC's, and so on.

veritas, where do u find admission rates? Do u know what it is for UCLA Chem? or UCSD Bio?

Thanks
