Just want to see what other students are applying with. Thanks

3.695...biological sciences major...hope to get into UCLA

ccct, u change ur mind about doing Biochem?(or did i confuse u w/ somoene)

Yeah i changed my mind too not doing chem or biochem, i need to take bunch of classes for Prepharm and the best major is bio for them. If u stay more than 4 years, u can't get financial aid i hear, so bio is the best major for that imo.

yea...i decided to change from biochemistry to neuroscience/physiology...

4.0 - phil/pre-med/insomnia (applied to UC(LA+SD+I+D))

3.71, UCLA as MIMG (basicly Microbio), UCSB & Davis as gen Bio. Ccct, I had my heart set on going to LA as a physio major, until the LA transfer counselor/advisor I met told me that they won't even consider your application as a physio major unless you've had at least one semester of o chem... :( I'm a semester shy of that, taking the 2nd semester of gen chem right now.

Good luck to everyone!

3.81

econ/bus for UCLA
econ for berekeley
econ for ucsd
managerial econ for davis

Is physio major at UCLA more competitve than Bio?

I heard getting into Chem major is not very dificult if most undegrad reqs are completed, but the problem is i would have to do Multivariable calculus and diffq calculus. I don't have time for that, i need to take Bio classes. UCSD counselor made me feel confident when she said that 3.4 will get me into most of the bio majors there. But i still really want to go to UCLA.

I did not get the impression that the physio major was more competitive than bio, just that the people in charge of the physio "department" (maybe program is a more appropriate word) didn't want transfers who wouldn't be able to start on their upper division course work (all of which require o chem, obviously) fairly quickly.

um yeah I'll have Ochem done, i am actually doing bio classes straight at UCLA thru their extension program. It's kinda a pain cause they have 4 classes and their all considered undergrad. I will mostly like have 3 done unless i go to summer session in my Soph year, which i really would hate to have to do lol. and of course no physics classes. SHould have the rest and IGETC.

I am just looking for a way to get in, not really sure about which major to chose.

well highschoolda...i'm sure your reasons for wanting to go to ucla are good, but dont brush off ucsd. UCSD is the second best uc and ucla isnt even the second best school in l.a (usc, lmu). SD has improved as a school and is harder to get into than ucb in some cases.

CCprison, i actually love SD and have several friends of mine go there, their science program is great. I was actually admitted there after HS, but didn't go cause of the cost. But i would now.

The reason why I'd chose LA over SD is i live 15 walking distance from it. I would save a ton of money on dorms.

Has anyone ever heard of someone transferring from a CSU to a UC. Can it even be done? Or are the courses and everything too out of sync with each other?

It can be done, however it's exceptionally difficult from what I understand. A lot of my friends decided to o to CSUN for 2 years and then transfer over to UCLA... However they all pretty much got toild the same thing, that it's not likely they'll get admitted. If you know you want to go to a UC and don't quite have the grades a CC is really the way to go.

To the OP:
Applied to all the UC's (except UCSC)

I'll also have on my transcript:
PTK

IGETC
TAP (aiming for UCLA)

UC give priority to CC people. 95% of all SD transfers are all CC stransfers. So ur chances are bad to start w/.

Allena ur GPA is very impressive.

People transfer from CSU's all the time..it just depends on your circumstances.

what are you basing that on exilo? show me facts... if you're going by hearsay your facts are questionable at best....

CC prison, good, thats what i wanted to hear.

This guy has been on everyone's nuts about stats and sources. Now he makes a BS statement w. out anything.

But i got one for him: 95% of admitted transfers to UC are from CC. Priority is given to CC over CSU, private, and god knows what.

The fact is that community college students get first priority like highschoolda said.

There is no need to be offended. Transfers do happen from CSU, but it does not often occur.

3.36 Classics major...junior transfer... > 70 units completed.
