Hello!
I am a cc transfer and I had a few questions.
I will be taking my math pre req this spring as I failed my first time around. I was wondering how hard it would be to get into UCSC or UCI? I’m going in as an English/Lit major. I have an elementary algebra class from summer with a B grade. Would that help? I tried taking a math but I transferred from a CSU and wasn’t able to take a placement test before fall. Any information would help! Thank you.
**all other pre reqs would be finished and I should have at least 3.1 gpa at the lowest.
* I couldn’t take the placement test due to health issues and my summer job. I did not live near my CC.
Are you saying you won’t have the quantitative math requirement completed by spring?
I will be taking the math requirement this coming spring semester.
There are a lot of factors they take into consideration. I assume you mean you took int. algebra and got a B, which is good, as you said. So, those two UCs should be OK with the course in spring, but beyond that who knows what they’ll do. UCI might be a stretch; hmmm, UCSC, not sure. I’m sorry to be vague, but I don’t know how 3.1 plays out in English over there. Someone else might have more to say on the matter. I wish you very good luck!
My gpa should be higher unless my grades suddenly take a bad turn after finals! Haha Anyway, thank you for the feedback! It’s greatly appreciated!
hey! not trying to be discouraging, but UCI may be a bit of a stretch.
However, UCSC should be absolutely no problem. You say you have major prereqs done, this math class will fulfill the 7 course pattern, a 3.1 at UCSC is pretty safe, and if you meet the 60/90 unit requirement then you should be set. UCSC does not read personal statements for admission purposes (UCI does), so honestly you will should be fine for UCSC. Best of luck for UCI tho
this is very insightful
